i actually held up my laptop and web cammed the dude aimming the opened laptop out the window...window was closed and it still turned out good. you can see wind blowin like a bastard & cold white stuff being thrown about like mad.

some young dumb a-hole is currently stuck out in our ditch. he was out sliding around in his little chevy s-10 pickup truck when he went off the gravel road & down into the ditch. now he is driving the length of the ditch in hopes of getting out. he just ran up to his friends' home to have the dad fire up his semi truck he hauls grain with to pull the little prick out.

what we have hear folks is a straight up white out...

got anything on winter storm Draco you might wanna share? i have a question. when did these winter storms start getting names? and it is just like hurricanes and whatnot... in alphabetical order come the winter storm names

    that's what i was wondering

During the upcoming 2012-13 winter season The Weather Channel will name noteworthy winter storms. Our goal is to better communicate the threat and the timing of the significant impacts that accompany these events. The fact is, a storm with a name is easier to follow, which will mean fewer surprises and more preparation.

    Naming Winter Storms

Hurricanes and tropical storms have been given names since the 1940s. In the late 1800s, tropical systems near Australia were named as well. Weather systems, including winter storms, have been named in Europe since the 1950s. Important dividends have resulted from attaching names to these storms:

    Naming a storm raises awareness.
Attaching a name makes it much easier to follow a weather system’s progress.
A storm with a name takes on a personality all its own, which adds to awareness.
In today’s social media world, a name makes it much easier to reference in communication.
A named storm is easier to remember and refer to in the future.

winter storm Luna has arrived here in iowa. welcome to the ice storm. no driving to the pool for me today. i did not walk to my mom's this morning for breakfast, instead i skated down the sidewalks & continued skating down the street & up her sidewalk to her place.

    Luna...

tomorrow we are suppose to be near 50 so that'll be good for not driving on ice covered roads.
thank you. living out here in the sticks we don't get the special treatment of ice prevention put down on the roads. instead we get a cup of coffee or tea & a window to sit in front of to watch the ice pellets fall from above.
