Please drop that silly and ridiculous thought from your brains.

You want to know what they intended the 2A for?

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." ---Thomas Jefferson

Don't believe it's no longer necessary? I wish I lived in your fantasy world.

I don't believe the 2nd Amendment means anything anymore. At the time it was passed, guns could reasonable hold back a tyrannical government.

Unless we're granted the right to bear missiles, tanks and bombs today, we're not going to stand a chance against the government with some pistols and shotguns.

You going to arm yourself against fighter jets, drones, and bombs? I think not.

But then again, if that is the reason why we have a right to bear arms, why is it that most guns (other than hunting) are purchased to "protect" people from other people or criminals and not the gov't?

congrats, I find it funny that people think that if the government wanted to take over and control you that they would not have done that already.

currently what tyrannical government do you need protection from?

there is not a tyrannical government now, and there hasn't been since we won the revolutionary war.

Aren't we supposed to believe that it already did, that the Illuminati and the New World Order and FEMA and the UN are all pulling the puppet strings?

it was primarily about slavery and the southern economy.

why are you being so dramatic about the boogeyman government? you are normally a very level headed poster.

edit to add, the guns in the civil war were provided for the armies by the respective governments, not the "well regulated militias" mentioned in the 2nd amendment that people like to talk about.

edit again, someone fucked up the quote feature.
