I have a painting of two of those birds preening each other. Poor bird. It happens.

I've hit birds a few times. Makes it a little harder because I have a bird at home too.

Once I hit a small bird. I saw it hit my windshield and bump over my car. I stopped in the middle of the road and looked in my rear view. After a second, I saw his tiny head pop up, but his body was just laying there. I circled around to block traffic and picked him up and held him on the way to work. Put him in a deep box and he only had one eye open and was really out of it. He was sleeping. Called the local bird rescue. They said if he survived to bring him to them. After a few hours of sleep the bird seemed pretty ok, but couldn't fly. I tried to release him near where I hit him, and he would run and jump on small plants, but he clearly couldn't fly. But was very energetic... and wanted the hell away from me. I chased him for 20 minutes and caught him to bring to the bird rehab. I didn't want to leave him as easy prey for other animals.

...anyway. Sorry to hear about your encounter. Hopefully he turned off like a light switch.
