"Storage Wars" a Hoax?

On a lighter note from all the tragedy and anguish of today, I saw this last night and thought of DS119...

I should also add, I've never seen this particular show, so I'm not sure about how real it is.
Even when the show isn't fake, people act fake. Everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame, and everybody wants to stand out from the rest so they can extend it a little further with a Playboy shoot or a spot on another reality show. I prefer to watch movies/shows over reality shows. Professional actors pretending to be real people come across as much more genuine than real people pretending to be interesting. That, and I don't really care whether or not somebody can find love in a mansion or a million bucks on an island.
I did see this the other day.
I mean anyone who watches these shows (and I'm guilty of it I like Storage Wars) has to question coming across lockers people can't pay for but somehow leave them full of valuables they could sell?
NO shit, huh??
I wouldn't be surprised if producers did plant some of that stuff. The few times I've seen shows like Pawn Stars and the like, I've wondered if some of these people bringing this stuff in were for real. For one, they're always over the top, and they always have over the top stuff to sell. Not that crazy stuff doesn't come in Pawn shops from time to time, but all these people with all these stuff just happen to be in Vegas?
Here's an interesting (kind of, mainly a slide show with voice over) video of a guy that actually visited the shop from Pawn Stars, and showing how it's just basically a tourist trap/souvenir shop.

I have been in the shop and it is nothing but a souvenir stand now. I did see an interview with the owner of the shop last year and he mentioned that there has been enough footage already filmed for 5 years worth of episodes so the stuff we will be watching three years from now was stuff in all likelihood filmed last year or even the year before.
It's still entertaining

I guess this is how lockers go up for auctions even though there are valuables in them. Also death of the former owner is a possible way valuables get left behind in storage lockers? Another reason may be the previous owner didn't know the value of their possesions.
I'm not saying it's all real, I'm just saying there are plenty of ways that valuables can be left behind in storage lockers.

we had a storage unit in Dallas (Lake Highlands) & they filmed there twice---once while we were there. we heard a lot of noise, looked down the hallway & saw Lisa & her partner surrounded by a bunch of cameras that were filming. my wife & i have seen that episode twice & we're convinced that you can see us at one point.

I have seen it. I like the original cast of Storage Wars but the Texas one has lost me.
I was actually surprised to hear that things are planted in the lockers. I will not bother watching the show anymore after knowing that.
Some reality shows are highly orchestrated, and some are not. Depends on the show. Big brother and Survivor, for example, are pretty much what you see (after the editing of course) is what you get, aside from some unseen breaks for players during competitions on BB and that kind of thing. But others, like Meet the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo, are often scripted, or the people are made to reenact what actually happened to make it more entertaining. I think that rigging shit in Storage Wars is different though. It seems more deceptive to me, especially considering that these kinds of auctions actually exist at the facilities on the show. And if they are planting people/items on Pawn Stars that's just lame. I just figured that a lot of strange things and people came in because the shop is well-known and people with something genuinely interesting come in to get on TV, and also, there is a lot of time in a week. I didn't' see it as far fetched that an few really interesting, show-worthy things came in each week or that many times in a season. I just assumed their appraisal experts were hooked up through the show, but that's it. Does anyone actually know that that show is bullshit?
I know it makes sense, I just find it funny. I just think they're full of shit or they would have told people what they have the "right to know" while they're still getting paid.
That guy from Storage Wars getting fired has a few different versions. So I don't really know if he's full of shit or not. There are two different versions of his story, one which he alone brought up his concerns, the other in which other cast members were involved, but he was the only one who got fired. So who knows.
As for Pawn Stars, I found this interesting site the other day. Some things might be nit-picking, but several seem pretty concrete to me. I guess you can read it and take it how you will.
http://centraltendencies.com/2011/03/pawn-stars-is-fake/
It would appear (at least according to this person, though the research for a lot of it seems pretty good) that some items are probably stock from other stores and the sale was staged, there may be some professional actors, and some "restored" items are in reality entirely different items.
If I remember correctly on show he pays around 2k for it. I know a couple of Vegas people in lowrider circuit.Car was actually sold for over 8K. The hydraulics and frame work on that car was alone worth the 8K.
So yeah they fix prices etc. Same for monkey garage or whatever its called. I grew up in Dallas in the lowrider/kustoms world and they too say they pay certain amount for a classic and they realy pay way less.
All those fuckers have done now is that everyone and their momma who has a classic car and/or parts thinks they have a gold mine and try to sell at those inflated prices they hear these fake ass shows saying they sell their junk for.
yeah i dug it. Little better than the Texas one, but the girls on Texas are cuter.
