I'm glad they did a new song and not a cover, just wouldn't be the same. I dug the shit out of it though. Sounded a little like Helter Skelter to me :D

Novoselic said on his Twitter feed yesterday that the new song was "Helter Skelter meets Scentless Apprentice".

Nirvana reunion? More like "members of Nirvana backing up Paul McCartney".

I was underwhelmed BUT I was never the biggest Nirvana fan and by the time Paul's set started I was fighting to stay awake.

I would have traded Roger Waters whole set for 15 minutes of Eddie and 15 minutes of Grohl and friends.

    Nirvana reunion?? What? Nope.

That was a total bumout. Then again, I'm not a McCartney fan, so meh.

Agree that I would have MUCH rather seen more Roger & EV.

I was never a big Nirvana nor Beatles fan, but I liked the song. Dave Grohl is a beast on the drums and it's almost sad that he gave up his best talent to be a front man. Good the see him back in QOTSA.

Hasn't Smear been in the Foo Fighters longer than now than he ever was in Nirvana? Why not call it a Foo Fighter's show with special guests? The fact is, the media made up a headline and a lot of people fell for it.

Pat Smear was a touring member of Nirvana. He only played with them on tour. I would say Pat is a founding member of Foo fighters even though he left after the first two albums. He returned during the Echo Silence Patience, and Grace tour for the acoustic additional set with extra musicians but did not play on the album. He is back permanently now though cause he is listed as a member on "wasting light. Can't remember when Pat started touring with Nirvana.... I'll have to wach "Back and forth" again.

The media called it a Nirvana reunion because that was what the "live" Nirvana was aside from McCartney, plus, they knew it would be a juicy headline grab for attention.

I mentioned it to make a point, that this could have been called anything, but "Nirvana reunion" brings oh so many more hits to your website.

Quick look at wiki has Smear 1 year with Nirvana, and 3 on his FIRST stint with the Foos.

yeah, didn't appreciate it too much...song itself was ok, but I'm not a fan of mccartney's voice really. always great to see dave on drums though.

I was at the 'Wasring Light' wrap party at Paladino's in the Valley a cuple of years ago and they said it was the first time Dave, Krist and Pat played together in public since the Nirvana days. They did 'Marigold' and left the main, center stage mic open.
The Spitfire Production crew filmed the entire show, including the song with Krist. I was hoping it would be somehow released with a deluxe version of 'Back And Forth' DVD or 'Wasting Light'. I hope someday it reaches the light of day because it was something pretty cool (way cooler then McCartney fronting the band) and everyone should have the chance of seeing it and judging for themselves.

  • Pat Smear was made an official member of the band just before Kurt blew himself away. You don't do photo shoots with touring members.

regardless of what it's called, and I'm not a PMc fan, I thought the song rocked. Can't wait for the studio version.
