A suspected burglar called 911 after the owner of the home he broke into caught and held him at gunpoint.

The suspect, Christopher Moore, placed the emergency call in Springtown, Texas, during the botched burglary attempt early Tuesday after James Gerow, the homeowner, and Gerow's son pointed guns at him as he sat in his pickup truck parked in the driveway.

"I'm out in the country somewhere," Moore told the 911 operator during the 10-minute call. "Some guy's got a gun on me."

Gerow's wife, Lindy, placed a concurrent call to 911 that confirmed Moore's account.

"You better come quick," she said, "or my husband's going to shoot him."

"If he gets out of the truck, shoot him in the legs," James Gerow told his son, according to the Dallas Morning News Crime Blog. "You ain't gotta kill him—just shoot him in the legs."

When police arrived, both Moore and Lindy Gerow were still talking to 911 dispatchers.

According to CBS' Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate, Moore was arrested and charged with burglary. He's currently being held on a $35,000 bond.

    My! A positive gun story!

If only all of the other ones would be published every day. The newspaper would be a million pages...today Joe Average in Topeka, Kansas cleaned his legally obtained and licensed weapon and nothing happened. Today in Wantagh, New York Bill James moved his legally obtained and licensed weapon from his secured lock box to his car for servicing at the local gun shop. Today in Laredo, Texas James Will went target shooting with his legally obtained and licensed weapon. It would make for some boring reading if every "non-gun" gun incident were actually published. Unfortunately we only here about the bad ones.

But I guess it would make sense, wouldn't it? The Hamburglar is out there, not looking for jewelry or trying to score drugs, just trying to get a burger, and the homeowner pulls a gun? Hamburglar probably stood there, really confused, thinking, "what the fuck man! I'm just trying to get a bite to eat, and you--, oh, right. The mask and burglar costume. Sorry."

Well done! Better than the story in MN going on. A guy was burglarized MANY times and a guy and a girl broke into his house. This dude shot the guy and then when the kid fell he was still alive. Then this girl came in and the same happened. They were both alive but he stood over them and shot them both in the head and killed them both. He told police what he did and has not backed down. Controversey as protect yourself, but to what extent. This story is GREAT that is posted here, the other, not so much!

Read the complaint on that case...the guy stood his ground, and then went nuts...and then wrapped the bodies in tarps and left them in his office for 2 days. My guess is most innocent gun owners who stand their ground, call the police immediately after, because what do they have to hide? This guy...whoa.

There are no such laws for guns.

Is there a 'learners permit' type thing and then a test at a shooting range to show you're proficent (sp)?

    :fp:

each state is different, but in Ohio to have a CCW, you do need to go to class.

in IL, we can't have CCW, but to own a gun, you do need to be regestered.
