I remember, riding in my friend's car and driving you home after that wonderful midnight madness sale at Quonsenhut Records in Middleburg Heights, OH. I remember listening to Last Exit for the first time. What great memories.

i wish i wish i wish i wish, i guess it never stops
Thought this would be a good thread to share a picture of the Vitalogy book that I found many years ago. Probably the most off the wall piece in my PJ collection. But I think it's pretty cool. It was printed in 1923. Some pictures from the album are taken from this book.

Yeah, I remember waiting for VITALOGY to release and I remember listening to it for the first time.
That was back in Poland and I was 17. Cannot believe it was that long ago.

That is really cool.

This was a rough month for me. I'd wanted the album so damn bad, but my sister wanted to get it for me for Xmas. Spent a lot of time at a friend's house who had the vinyl. Really only hung out with the guy just to listen to Vitalogy.

I had fell in love w pj at a young age with ten and vs.
A friends was going to get the album before I could because I was only 12 years old and never had money.
So he made me a tape.
As soon as I got home after school I put it into my yellow Sony Walkman tape player. I remember I was working In the yard after school.
Once the album started I was like whoa - this is weird! Eddie sounds so deep!
I listened to the first had of the tape and flipped it over. Suddenly I realized there was a problem with the tape and my Walkman was not reading it properly.
I then went inside and before listening to side two, listened to side one again and was laughing so hard at my self for not realizing that the tape had been dragging like 3/4 speed (slowed down by 1/4) the whole time.
When I was a toddler and very little, my dad used to play me a few songs off of his favorite records, Thunder Road from Born to Run, Yesterday from Help, and Better Man from Vitalogy. He also had (for some reason) a Tokyo 2003 album, from which he played me songs like Daughter, Black, Alive, Last Kiss and Yellow Ledbetter. My two favorite songs growing were Better Man, and Last Kiss. Whenever I heard those songs something would kinda go through me and everything would just feel special.
Point of the story is thanks Dad and Vitalogy for leading me to where I am today

Ah yes, I remember it well. Standing outside Pure Pop in Burlington, VT waiting for the midnight sale, the night of Dec 5th. Good times.
Can't believe that was 1/2 my life ago.
Tru dat, 39 here... Mid December, very hot in downtown Buenos Aires, imports took a while, don't remember the date, but I remember buying it at Gapul, the only store which had it, 25 USD, plus 42 USD for The Beatles Live at the BBC... Gonna toast for my fav PJ album since it's has come of drinking age...
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...
PJ's Twitter wrote this and I'm kinda facepalmy about it: Vitalogy was released on this day today, two weeks after its release on vinyl (11/22/1994). #PearlJam #Vitalogy I don't think they intended it to indicate that the vinyl was released on November 8th, 1994, but that's how it reads. Change the 'before' to 'after' and 'vinyl' to 'CD' and it's a correct statement: Vitalogy was released on this day today, two weeks BEFORE its release on CD (11/22/1994). #PearlJam #Vitalogy ------- Social media nitpickiness aside, I used to pack the whole CD with me to school and go over the liner notes during Silent Reading. It is now held together with hinges made from duct tape.
Right before Vitalogy was released was about the time I was getting into Pearl Jam. I had three sisters so a lot of pop music in my household. Fortunately I resisted and after getting this album for Christmas I quickly went back to Ten and Versus and caught myself up.

Curious as to what you thought of Ten after hearing Vitalogy first?
I still think Last Exit and Immortality are some of PJ's finest written songs. This album has so many gems on it. Satan's bed, Whipping, hell I LOVE bugs always have!
I had just gotten my 1984 Chevy Blazer and my mother put a CD player in it as an early Christmas gift. I was barely 16. I would sit in the driveway at night and listen to Corduroy over and over and over. Vitalogy is one of my oldest, best friends. Now we can have a beer together.

I hope my son tells the same stories of me, one day. He's 7 and music has always been our strongest (and most fun) bond.
Vitalogy was first released on vinyl, followed by a release on CD and cassette two weeks later on December 6, 1994. selling 877,000 copies in its first week. The album has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA in the United States
