  • Oh the heinous fruitcake. Most despised of holiday treats.
So many good things to eat this time of year....for me, this is last on the list.

    Even Bushy knew it.

Was watching Sponge Bob Christmas special with my nephew the other day and one of the characters made fruitcake with 'jerktonium' in it so that everyone that ate it would turn into a jerk. Was actually kind of funny.

I have never tried nor been offered fruit cake in my life.
From the looks of it I never will.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

  • I've had plenty of fruitcake offers but I never took them up on it.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

You know this shit gets a bad rap. It's not that bad.
  • Never had an American one, but my Dad makes these, the German version. I can only have so and so much of them, but sometimes around this time of the year I get this craving for a slice of Stollen...

  • It's not that bad but it isn't really very good either

  • I don't like the ones that are like 5lbs really dense, but the ones that are kinda fluffy are good. It wouldn't be my first dessert choice.

    Mmmmmm.... Stollen.... with marzipan...

I don't like dark fruit cake. In the UK, the christmas pudding or the christmas cake which we have to have every year  My mother in law makes fantastic ones, soaked in brandy for weeks - I even enjoy a bite (just the one!) of hers. But all in all, not my cup of tea.

Mmmmmh yeah with marzipan! I was quite surprised to find out that marzipan isn't really know around here. Weird.

My grandma's fruitcake is something people ask for, and I've never gotten the obsession.
