Want to believe the best: Rescue or online puppy store?

Every now and then I like to click on the website of the adoption organization responsible for bringing the littlest unlost dog into my life.
Tessie was feral-born to a stray, and was placed in foster care until she was shipped from Indiana to Connecticut, where I picked her up in March 2008 and brought her home.
She was 8 weeks old, in excellent health, and my vet was impressed with the veterinary care she received prior to adoption.
I've contributed money to Adopt-A-Lab over the years, as I could, because I truly believe in their work. They were wonderful throughout the process when I spoke with them on the phone, and when I met them in person when the dogs were delivered.
Today I checked out their website and thought it odd that they didn't have any recent dogs for adoption, none since the beginning of last month. And then I noticed that their Facebook page seems to have disappeared.
With a sinking feeling, I did a Google search for recent news articles, and found several. It appears they were raided last month, 63 dogs were removed from reportedly squalid conditions, and there are allegations that they may have been purchasing dogs from puppy mills.
Don't know what to think. This is rather stunning.

Here is Tessie. She's wonderful, and remains in excellent health. She'll be five next month, and last year she was one of the top ten dogs in CPE agility. She's not a Lab, and wasn't billed as a Lab, but as a Lab mix. I don't know what she is, she won't tell me and really it doesn't matter.
Whatever the true story, I'm glad they got her to me...

The beagle is adorable, isn't he/she?
I pictured you more of a pug kind of guy. Or maybe a bulldog.
All dogs are
Also, I am glad you know she is in good health. May it stay like that forever..
Thank you sweetie!
*smooch*
that's all the really matters
We adopted Penny from the area sheltie rescue and she had received very good care. I've had contact with the organization over the years and the dogs seem well cared for. But they foster their dogs among a large group of volunteers, not just one location.
