We've become a little more like the natives

When we moved here from New York, we noticed that outdoor lights are a big part of the holiday season. My neighborhood even has some kind of "light display" contest. There's a person several blocks away from us that really seems to get into it! He has his entire corner lot filled with colorful, twinkling, doo-dads. :)

This weekend, we decided that without snow, the lights were the signal that Christmas is approaching here. So, we decided to join in the spirit of this by adding a few pretty lights to our yard. Rows of red candy-cane lights on the edge of the flower beds, white crystral lights on the roof edge.

It all looks pretty and even tasteful (!) but we are still new to the game. :D
(I know that guy with the cluttered yard adds more to his collection every year.) :?

Do you put up outdoor decorations where you live?

  • There's nothing that says X-mas more than some fake icicles and fluffy cotton snow in Florida. I may even hang the Santa in his swim shorts from the palm tree. ;)

I think the great thing about lights in Florida is that there's no shame!

There are enormous tacky dolphins, palm trees, flamingos, snowmen, santas, reindeer. And it's all good!
