Perhaps the moderators can clear this up?

This is reminiscent of a post I wrote a very long time ago, when users were going around posting anti-Palestinian garbage. I decided to post this here rather than as a private message to the mods since, I think, the answer to this would be beneficial to everyone here. Since insults flying around this board seem a big issue to the mods and tend to get censored, given the mods' a strong policy towards it, I want to know where the line is. In other words, it seems ok, at least from the lack of censorship I've seen on this board, for someone (not gonna name any names) to call Muslims a backward, savage people who rape little boys or whatever the hell that's supposed to mean; on the other hand, to respond to that person and say something about them, "you dont know what the hell you're talking about"--this seems to cross this metaphorical line for the mods.
My question is: are generalizations of people OK, but personal insults not? Cause if that's the case, maybe the solution is to just not speak in the personal "you" but to just generalize? e.g., "All white Republican Christians don't know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to Islam, and are ignorant closet homosexuals." I'd like to reiterate at this point that this is just a practice, but the question is, what constitutes an "opinion" and when is one taking it too far?

the mods respond to posts that are reported ... if it can anyway be remotely considered a violation of the guidelines they will act ... they don't have the time or not that concerned with context ... so ... it is my belief that if you had reported something - it would have been addressed ... the reality is that the posting guidelines are being violated consistently on a regular basis however (thankfully) most of us just move past it and recognize that sometimes a little friction is inevitable ... it would be nearly impossible for the mods to review everything completely so i think in many instances it just comes down to being reported and them choosing the easiest option ...
When someone makes a post that you disagree with or is not within the Posting Guidelines, you report it to us and we handle it.
You DO NOT comment at the other member in a personal way. "There you go again." "That's another one of your usual posts (uncomplimentary adjectives removed)." "You are an idiot." "STFU." "You're talking out of your ass." etc. etc. You can think it all you want but you cannot post it here.
Personal comments at other members is not discussing the topic. Discuss the topic, not other members. Just tell the other person why the comment isn't accurate...with proof if you can. We've said this at least 100 times, if not more. Can I have a dollar for every time it's been posted? No? Ok.
