Stuff the cricket thread for this one... It deserves it's own...

Bravo, I will miss you donning the baggy green...

Average of 52.21

41 100s,

62 50s

Brilliant player.. .His pull shot was amazing, and one of the greats of the modern era. His name rightfully deserves to be on the top shelf with Tendulkar and Lara.. .

I only got to see him in person once in a Test, but he scored a ridiculous ton at nearly run-a-ball (Auckland 2005). I've only been watching the game for a decade or so but to me he is the epitome of a hard-nosed, up-yours Aussie cricketer. Glad he got to go on his terms, and hope he scores in Perth this week.

Well said. I always enjoyed watching Punter. Someone would get out and you'd be like 'ah fuck, a wicket'... but then in walked Ponting and it was all forgotten

  • So sad that he is retiring.
Raise your bat Punter, you are a champ!
    :(
Going to miss that trademark pull shot of his. :(

  • no doubt he's the 2nd best australian batsman of all time, but his retirement has come 2 years too late.

instead of going out on a high, he now looks out of place, has been embarrassingly tapped on the shoulder and has only average 30 odd in his last 30 innings.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
