Well I'm another one who is well and truly fed up with this. Just received a postal slip for a package that needs collected:

    Two boots @ $16.98 each plus $5.08 int.shipping.

Total - $39.04, pretty reasonable I thought. However the amount due on the postal slip was an extra $29.38!!!

Total - $68.42!!! For two boots!! UK equivalent = £42.36 compared to the original cost £24.36, needless to say I won't be picking these up with this extra charge. I'm assuming I can get a refund or request they repackage these individually to stop the charges?

I was never charged extra when ordering boots from Kufala whether I ordered 1 or 5? Also last summer I won a giveaway which was 2 shirts and a PJ20 keychain and for that freebie I had to pay £24.04/$38.53!!

There is no consistency with this at all, I've ordered plenty merch at various costs from 10c and Kufala with no charges yet now every other package I order requires paying for it again when it arrives.

I don't know where the blame lies for this but to whoever is responsible a big FUCK YOU!!!

Thanks for putting me off from ordering merch from my favourite band. I won't be ordering from 10c again because I've had it with the inconsistency.... :|

What shipping method are they using to send those cd's? Is it by a courier like UPS or FEDex?

I'm not from Europe, but am from Canada, so I order stuff from the US all the time. I try to avoid couriers wherever possible. They charge "brokerage" fees to determine how much tax/duty you owe. Most of the time the brokerage fee is larger than the tax.

Secondly because they have a financial incentive to check the contents, they never forget to check a package.

On the other hand if I order something and it's shipped USPS (united states postal service), they hand it off to Canada Post, who charges $7.50 to assess the tax owed. Canada Post lets all sort of packages slide, and I rarely get charged for tax unless its a very expensive package.

Maybe Europeans are kind of new to this BS, but maybe you should investigate the breakdown of the fees you were charged, who is charging them, and what shipping company dropped it off? As a Canadian I've been dealing with this crap for years :( (not from 10c, but ordering from outside the country in general).

    Me too. Well $3.30 rate. :P :)

I can't say its not a little bit fun watching the US fans squirm at the shipping prices a bit when we Canadians had it pretty bad for all those years (being lumped in with international shipping, when its much cheaper to ship to Canada than overseas).

I do empathize though. I used to avoid order from 10c because shipping killed every deal, now its not bad at all, thus I'm more open to ordering from 10c than before.

I'm not 100% but I think it's USPS but then I think Kufala were too. I am going to look further into this because it's become quite ridiculous now. It wasn't ever a problem for me until maybe 9 months ago. It seems like every second package comes with charges but this is the first time for boots for me. I would understand if a heavier package was subject to higher charges but the PJ vs Ames book and the PJ20 one were pretty cheap for postage and had no customs charges. A $10 poster with $5 shipping I only bought because it was on sale cost me another $26? The Manchester posters which cost full price were delivered minus any extra charges? Like I said, inconsistency is a big problem here. It's put me off ordering anything else now. Nobody would accept this for anything else they buy so why keep letting it slide?

    SWEET ZOMBIE JEBUS!!!

Quick question but were all the packages customs forms checked marked for merchandise or gift? I've found that if any package, large or small, that is checked with gift, I've never paid a single dime @ the door. But when the seller check marks merchandise on the custom form, I gotta pay some fees.

USPS are amazing here cause they give their goodies to Canada Post. I try to avoid international orders who use UPS or FedEx. Those guy's are pure EVIL!! Even on a 20 buck cd, they want something @ the door. Savages!!!

"Total - $39.04, pretty reasonable I thought. However the amount due on the postal slip was an extra $29.38!!!"

How is that even possible?!?
That can't be right man. No fucking way!!!

All those year's paying more then double for packages shipped across the border, and still taking a month to two, was pretty intense. Now we can take a break from the cost. The wait time though hasn't changed. But it's progress. Keeps my PJ insanity to a minimal. lol

I know, I never paid charges before for anything until last year. I remember a thread about this a few years ago and feeling sorry for those who were getting extra charges but I don't remember anything being this high? Emailing 10c tonight for some clarity hopefully.

I've worked hard for 26 years contributing taxes and national insurance like others do so that I can enjoy good healthcare, not to line the pockets of USPS or FedEx with stupid charges for items that I've already paid shipping for. If I really wanted to discuss real politics I'd go to A Moving Train thanks...

Umm so you think the system would go well if people could completely avoid the VAT by internet/mail ordering their stuff from other countries? :) Thats whole reason taxes get assessed at the border (so people can't avoid the tax). We have a similar thing in Canada but its called HST (or PST/GST).

I mentioned it before, but look at your fee slip, and read the breakdown of your charges. How much was actually tax and how much was brokerage? Which company delivered it to your door? Don't use 'em again :)

That's the trouble when ordering from overseas, you generally don't get a choice. From 10c I've had deliveries from FedEx, USPS and DHL but none of the charges make sense. A set customs fee would be something that I'd graciously accept but the charges make little sense to me no matter how they break down. How can a poster be free from fees one day and then next time be $26 from the same courier service? It seems very hit or miss. I understand taxes fine and don't shirk paying them. All I'm saying is I don't get how it can be so inconsistent?
