Show Two Set List

01. You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away-(Lennon, McCartney)
02. Don’t Be Shy-(Yusuf Islam)

(Ed greets the crowd and talks about how the audience the night before was the perfect balance between enthusiasm and respect for the music and each other. “I didn’t have to play lifeguard and look out for people and make sure there was nothing going on. I don’t like playing lifeguard. I want to surf with the rest of you. Now, I am not just out here playing shows I am scouting for places for Pearl Jam to play so...If we get two good ones here...)

03. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
04. Can’t Keep

(“See, ukulele songs don’t all have to be about sitting on the sea shore. Not that there is anything wrong about sitting on the sea shore..” He talks about the next song being a sad one and that if it happens to you get a ukulele. It is a song writing machine. “You can write happy or sad songs. You can go both ways. Not that I go both ways...It’s just that sometimes...a male voice shouts out of the darkness ‘well timed male voice shouts “I love you Eddie”..Ed says, “That, like that..of course at the time that I wrote this song I probably would have slept with that guy”)

05. Sleeping By Myself

( a conversation that digresses and ends up making R. Kelly’ references and ends up with Ed talking about his wife and family)

06. You're True
07. Thumbing My Way
08. Good Woman-(Chan Marshall)
09. Wishlist

(Ed says he usually only plays this song if he has some reason to but tonight he is happy to say that he hasn’t lost anyone lately)

10. Man Of The Hour

(Ed talks about Into The Wild and surfing and the best way to warm your entire body by internally warming your wet suit. They also ran into Jelly Fish and Ed wished he had given more thought and planning to when and how much he urinated.)

11. Far Behind
12. Setting Forth
13. Guaranteed

(Ed says that when he gets home in December, now that marijuana is legal he is going to roll a joint the size of a Duraflame log. “In Seattle we have all these great laws, legal pot, gay marriage and you can download music for free..oh wait, that is everywhere, damn it.”)

14. Rise
15. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard

(Ed has the campfire and stars turned back on. He talks about being at a campout and people asking him if he knows “Take Me Home Country Roads or something by ABBA” He briefly sings a bit of “Fernando” and says, “No, I don’t really know that one but I know this one....”)

16. Lukin
17. Porch

Encore Break 1

(Ed talks about what a privilege it is to play for so many people in the military here in Jacksonville. He also talks about the organization “Wounded Warriors”)

18. I Am A Patriot-(Van Zandt)
19. I’m One-(Townshend) for Ed’s friend Dr. Matt. (While strumming the intro Ed says that “Pete’s music meant so much to me, still does, that I used to think I should send Pete ‘Father’s Day’ cards.”)

20. Just Breathe
21. Unthought Known
22. Society w/ Glen Hansard-(Hannan)
23. Sleepless Nights w/ Glen Hansard-(Bryan, Bryant) played with mics and PA
24. This Land Is Your Land w/ Glen Hansard-(Guthrie)
25. Falling Slowly w/ Glen Hansard-(Hansard, Irglová)
26. Open All Night-(Springsteen)
27. Parting Ways
28. The End

(Ed explains the origin of the song “Arc”. Although he hasn’t talked much about it before he describes how the song was layered up using 9 vocal tracks that repeat and loop. One vocal track for each person that died at Roskilde. He likens the song to a prayer. “There aren’t really words because there are no words to describe how we feel about what happened.”

He goes onto say that he had been thinking about the Wounded Warriors and figured that it would take 28 hours to do a vocal loop for all of the soldiers killed and even more if the suicides were included.)

29. Arc

Encore Break 2

30. Hard Sun w/ Glen Hansard-(Peterson)
31. Dream A Little Dream-(Kahn, Schwandt, Andree

Looks like a great EV setlist. Goes together very well with night 1. Would have loved to be there.

On a separate note, I can't believe that Glen did not play Astral Weeks either night in Jacksonville. The crowd really missed seeing something special. He is incredible on that song.
  • another unforgettable night. Highlights for me were Thumbing My Way, Good Woman, Man of the Hour, I am A Patriot, Open All Night, and Arc (major goosebumps - felt very privelaged to have heard this). The pissing in your wetsuit commentary was hilarious and I was thrilled when Ed said he was scouting places for the band to come back to. Great to see old friends and make some new ones. Cheers to everyone headin to the rest of the FL gigs.

  • What a great couple of shows to start the Florida run off. Arc was extra special tonight and a thumbing my way was great. Can't Keep is one of my solo favorites. Ed added a line at the end of You're true pretty much saying his daughters will be taller than him. Lol

  • That was most definitely one of the best EV/PJ performances I've seen. Arc at the end was beautiful. The whole thing was just amazing. I'm not normally.. a fan... of many of PJ/EV's opening act choices but Glen was off the charts.
The crowd interaction, the laughing, sly jokes, bits of shyness mixed in with the stories, and above all the music combined together to make one hell of a night. That's not a side of EV that most of us have gotten to see in person, myself included.. happy and comfortable.

I have a good friend that didn't want to go because he thought it would be just Eddy and a uke and thought that would be boring. If anyone reading this thinks that you couldnt be more wrong. I knew it would be a great night but my wife and I both agree that it was beyond even our expectations.

Cheers Eddy, Glen, and everyone involved with an awesome production.

This was an absolute perfect endcap to my RN graduation "blow off steam" week. Thank's so much.

And please.. come back again and quite often! :)

    PS,
Please release the night from the very beginning with Glen to the very end for fan download. My wife and I are chomping at the bit to relive the night.
  • Not much to say other than awesome!! What a great 2 nights being a longtime band fan and now have much more appreciation for Eddie's talents as a musician, songwriter, etc. Hopefully the rest of Florida trips are as good and we get the band to make it back down to FL.
  • Oh, and I just wanted to remind everyone in case you've never surfed before

If your going to "self warm".. make sure you do it laying down so it doesnt just warm one leg. :) And watch out for the jellies! :D

    What a great night :corn:

Porch was amazing. Lukin was a great surprise. Society with glen was awesome. Great show. I could have sat there all night listening to him shred that acoustic guitar.

  • Highlight of the night was Arc. It brought me to tears- actually tears are an understatement. I was crying and I couldn't help it, it was an uncontrollable release and the tears wouldn't stop. It evoked something in me- his voice, the pain it carried, the beauty and meaning - it was a monumental moment that struck a chord in me and even now, thinking back to that moment I find my eyes swelling. It left an emotional imprint and I couldn't be any more *grateful* to witness this in person. It was one of those- once in a lifetime moments. I was and am, still awestruck. Absolutely & utterly AMAZING!

Such an amazing performance. Arc was simply unbelievable---there was a moment towards the end of it where my spine shivered (it really popped me off my seat for a sec). I loved the kick drum at the end of Parting Ways. Lukin, Unthought Known, Man of the hour, Ed's stories,
What a spectrum of emotions for a single man show---it is a comedy show, a love story, drama, fiction, non fiction, tear jerker----and as always REAL

Another beautiful concert!! I loved hearing Don't be Shy and Wishlist. :)

I loved all of it really but I was amazed by a few of the songs. This Land is Your Land with Glen Hansard was so much better than I could have expected!! The two of them playing their guitars together at the end of Long Nights was spectacular and impressive too. :D

Good Woman made me cry a little. :geek: The End made me cry a lot. :?

I hadn't heard Man of the Hour lately and it was just lovely. :)

I noticed that someone was filming the concert as I was leaving. Maybe there will be a DVD?

Lol- I couldn't agree more. It amazes me how he puts music to feelings and actually makes them audible. It music to raw feelings and it's simply Devine. :D

Open all night is the best for me!

This show was awesome, they were loose and chatty. I scored 3rd row in the pit. (Row of fat bald guys on the right)

Touched Eddie's hand at the end. I'm like a schoolgirl

    Great show.
