I'm pleased because I don't care howuch they tour, am not a concert hog, like Avocado and Backspacer a lot, and really appreciate their side projects a lot. Also, I genuinely only want them to do what they feel like doing. Their lack of touring doesn't bother me at all, and never think about "what I'm getting in return" because I truly don't feel like they owe me anything. That's how I'm a pleased fan. I am perfectly happy with what they have been and what they are. Also, I think that 4 years between an album after 22 years is totally reasonable. That's whatever for you that you feel annoyed or whatever you are, but that doesn't mean I have to feel pissy too. ;)
    You call me pissy..
    I call you unrealistic..
    Not every song is great.
    Not every album is great
Not every side project is great.
    Not every concert is great.

But in your eyes they can do no wrong.
At least thats what I get, from reading your posts the last few months.

    They are a rock band.
    A very good rock band..
They were once, in my eyes, the best live band on the planet...

Yeah, that's right. I love them I think they're fucking awesome! I do think every album is great (not every song, but close). Lucky me, right? I don't think it's possible for my pleasure to be unrealistic. It is what it is, and It's real. :) Sucks to be you to be all disappointed... Are you a misery loves company kind of person? Why do you seem to want everyone to be pissy with you? We don't all have to feel the same way.

We dont all have to feel the same way. EXACTLY!
And you should think about that statement.

I have been here, on this board, for 10 years.
I have seen this board go through many changes in the last 10 years..
I have seen the band go through many changes in the last 20 years.
And with both the board and the band, these changes are not always for the better. That would be MY OPINION. Which you are more than welcome to disagree with. But be aware there are more than a few people here, people who like myself have been following this band for decades, who would agree 100% with me.

    That doesnt make us pissy.
    That doesnt make us miserable.
And it doesnt suck being us.

It just makes us people who are able to admit, that not everything Pearl Jam does, or touches, is GOLD!

The reason you seem pissy is just because you seem intent on convincing ME that they aren't as good as they used to be. Not sure why anyone would want to do that, but a lot of people on these boards do want to convince me to not be as happy with this band as I am and even suggest that i'm in denial (that's just insulting). That's why you come off as kind of miserable. I know you have a right to your opinion. I'm not trying to convince you to be happier with the band. But you are challenging me on my good feelings about them, and hinting that i'm practically delusional if i actually feel that way ("unable to admit" that they are worse,) which just feels kind of Grinchy. I've been a fan as long as you, and have witnessed all the changes too. I just truly LIKE the changes. I am aware many feel like you do; i'm just sick of you all trying to tell others that they aren't as good, and if they don't think so they aren't being "realistic". I mean, seriously?? Wtf does that even mean?? If that's not what you're about, okay. I'm just saying that's the impression you're making on me.

PJ Soul - Don't waste your energy responding to this guy. You nailed it when you referred to him being miserable. Some people are unhappy and want to rain on other people's parades. This thread is about RNDM and still people feel compelled to spread negative energy about how much PJ tours. Nothing is ever good enough for some people.

I'm very pleased about RNDM too though... I hope they do another album as well, after PJ does their thing in 2013!
    Why are you so pleased?
This band has played less than 40 shows in the Usa since 2009.

    2009
    2010
    2011
    2012

Less than 40 shows in the USA?
But they sure do sell a ton of T-shirts, posters, DVD's. hoodies, etc. etc. etc.
And the fans who think "Every " album is great, the fans who think every concert is great, the fans who think every song is great, just keep spending their money. But in the last 4 -5 years what have you really gotten in return?

I won't deny I'm in a fortunate circumstance that I live in the northeast, but of those 'less than 40 shows in the USA', I have seen the band nine times. That's more than I've seen any other band since I started attending concerts in 2003. Of the 13 shows I've seen in total (first being in '05) - I can say that at least five of them were within the best concerts I've seen, period.

The posters have ranged in quality, the t-shirts (in my opinion) are consistently low-quality (hence I don't buy them), but the high I get from seeing these guys live is unbeatable. For the record, I do not love every song Pearl Jam has made, have been uninterested by or not enjoyed songs at concerts, but I do love the variety of tracks they have managed to create over their career, and the way their shows come off as being incredibly well-rounded. Avocado has grown on me tremendously after seeing songs live (three years ago, I would've called it a lacklustre album), and Backspacer to me felt incredibly fresh, fun, and full of energy.

To reiterate what some here have already said, do not be so quick to assume that anyone who still loves this band and is incredibly happy to be a current fan, is drinking the Kool-Aid.

There are things about PJ and their management/fan club that bug the shit out of me - but at the end of the day, those gripes are minor compared to the enjoyment I get out of being a fan.
    '05 - TO, '06 - TO 1, '08 - NYC 1 & 2, '09 - TO, Chi 1 & 2, '10 - Buffalo, NYC 1 & 2, '11 - TO 1 & 2, Hamilton, '13 - Buffalo, Brooklyn 1 & 2, '15 - Global Citizen, '16 - TO 1 & 2, Chi 2

RNDM LP is a good one for sure. They have a great sound.

As for PJ, their worst is much better than others best.

They can make much more dough elsewhere, filling bigger places. It probably costs them 3 times as much to put something on here with all the BS red tape and unions.

I'm totally impressed with what Jeff and the rest of the guys put together. The album is great from start to finish and I've been playing the hell out of it in the car.

    More RNDM please!
