I don't think it was mentioned in the setlist and I could be wrong but my wife and I are pretty sure Ed jumped on the Pipe Organ when the final curtain dropped and played for another couple minutes. Hopefully when a bootleg comes out it will include that.

Funniest moment was when he was talking about his mandolin, the crew tour named it Mangelina. Someone shouted out, "I love her!" Eddie said, "um, Mangelina is a transvestite porn star, so she's a he."

GREAT SHOW!! Sat next to some chill people on both sides of us who were all from Georgia. This was my Mom's first show (EV or PJ) and it was AWESOME. Very happy to share this with her.

    Ready for tonight!!

Great Show, wish I could've been there tonight, but sadly could not afford it and had to head back to GA. Great audience around us, and a seemingly never ending setlist make for an amazing night! Hope PJ comes back to the south!

Check out my buddy's blog about the show here: http://laterontheresashow.blogspot.com/
If you're the only one, will I never be enough? Hail, hail the lucky ones, I refer to those in love!!!

  • Both nights were truly amazing for different reasons. It's crazy to see the age span of people attending his shows and how his music affects people from age 5 to 85. I was spellbound both nights and have memories I will treasure for the rest of my days.
Night one: highlights for me were- Ed’s answer to the fireworks going off outside and the Loud Uke- it blew my socks off- wasn’t expecting it and LOVED it!! Better Man, Sleepless Nights with Glen sans mics or PA was crazy- I loved it, Long Nights made my eyes swell with tears and the best thing about Falling Slowly was I knew I’d hear it again the following night- It was simply beautiful.
To be honest- Outside of Falling Slowly, I wasn't very familiar with Glen but I am so glad I had an introduction to him. As others have said, I think they really need to do an album together. Their voices and harmonies are beautiful and they complement each other so well. Glen was a real treat and amazing performer. It was an utter pleasure listening to him as well as meeting him after the show- such a nice guy.

I would kill to have a bootleg of this night’s performance- it was stellar. I had an unbelievable time and would freeze my butt off again to personally thank them for such an amazing performance. The energy of the crowd was fantastic, met some really great folks at both shows… I have to admit that between the two shows I actually preferred night one over two…. It seemed a little more organic. Don’t get me wrong- they both were amazing but night one was- special.

In speaking to someone outside we both agreed- it really doesn't matter what Eddie sings- it could be the “ABC’s” or as he said- he could sing the ingredients off a Wheaties box and we would still be there- enthralled and chanting along “Yeah! Whole Wheat” right along with him.

Thank you again for two amazing nights and *Plllleeeeeease* come back to Jacksonville Eddie!!!

  • went both nights, both great. at the last few songs i took off in my wheelchair to the front(5 rows back because of a wall) but after fighting with security they said it was a fire hazard to be in the middle of the isle;(yea the only 2 fires were on the stage for ed & how mad security lady was) but after hard sun Ed gave a pic to someone in the front row kept pointing back making sure it got to me when it was in my hand i looked right at him said I got it. he made sure then smiled & gave me the thumbs up.. !! thanks Ed.

    see you soon
  • Need bootleg!! Ed, it is time to start putting your bootlegs up for sale. We need some EV instant classics!! It's hard to find words how enjoyable both jacksonville shows were. Thanks Ed and Glen for coming to Jacksonville!!

    Hello Folks,

Well, it took around 20 years for a show in Jacksonville, so I'll take my time here. I re-read the setlist and everyone's memories. I agree with the consensus; this was a very good show. I used to be the person to scout opening acts ahead of time, but stopped doing it several years back to get more of a suprise at live shows. We got inside a couple songs into Glen Hansards set. I was pleasently suprised by his smooth, yet powerful voice. Glen puts off an emotional vibe with a solid delivery. But at the same time, there's a shyness to his voice and it gets rugged and cracky at all the right times. The thousand or so folks in the crowd seemed to enjoy and I thought it was great as well. It's obvious Ed is impressed with his talent too, as he would be back for several songs in Ed's set.

My friend and I went outside during intermission and checked out the boat parade. It was clear and cooling down quickly as the sun had been down for a couple hours. Even with the chill in the air, I was pumped up so see EV. We hit the potty, grabbed beverages, found our way back to the box section.

Elderly Woman was a great opener - the crowd quickly filled in and joined the sing-a-long. I've bitched about PJ/EV coming to Jacksonville for years, so I was a little worried about how my fellow locals would respond between songs. We are the home to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Limp Biscuit, so there was potential for drunken chaos. Anyway, I think everyone was respectful and the show contained many little moments of silence. You know, those moments were everyone collectively realizes were all part of something special.

I really enjoyed hearing the Uke and have always liked the acoustics at the Moran Theater. We were talking before the show if the fireworks would be audible inside. Sadly, I was right, but I thought EV did a great job improvising his setlit and covered up any outside noise with Loud Uke. I'd actually love to hear PJ rock that one. Girl From The North Country was a great cover, but the arranegment was all Eddie's. It was a real treat to get Immortality and Porch closed out the first set.

Driftin' is an awesome song and Let My Love Open The Door was probably the highlight of my night. There was plenty of room in the box for dancing and I was shaking my groove thang. Thankfully, the next few songs were of a slower tempo and Glen did an excellent job. The "busking" version of Sleepless Nights was simply beautiful. Not even the one needy jackass in the crowd could ruin it for me. By that time, girl took realized I was a lost cause and wasn't going to give her attention. I should have probably told her of my love for PJ. Anyway, I believe she still had a good time, but I probably scared her a little. The show wrapped up with a jammin' version of RITFW and we got a bonus song at the end.

All in all, a great crowd and a better show. Ed was in good spirits and it's easy to tell he's in a great place in his life. I was super happy in the end and optimistically stoked for night two!

Thanks for reading and take care,

awesome show, not much to be said that wasnt already said....

i was lucky enough to sit next to two drunk women trying to see who could whistle louder - so that sucked (hard liquor and intimate shows like this do not mix, at all)

waited for ed to come out after the show - well worth freezing my ass off for an hour and a half - met some cool people and got to shake EV's hand, say a few words.... i''ve read it here before, but he does look everyone in the eyes, listens to what everyone says, responds...

when he came out, he gave a little speech - thanks for coming especially with the postponed dates, go get warm...video is here...sound is bad, but you can make out what he says

glen was standing there so it was nice to chat with him as well....both such cool guys

    cant wait for orlando

Great show, more energy than Memphis in my opinion. (Memphis was awesome by the way)

Glen is great, it was cool when he got frustrated with his gear and just unplugged.
  • Ed dedicated the immorality to me and my bestest PJ buddy..." Miss Anita and Miss Linda." I was speechless...

Jacksonville audience was amazing...few flashes...amazing energy...Ed had to motion the crowd to sit several times cause the audience were on their feet rocking it out...

Jacksonville my hometown..represented Florida so freakin well...for those going to more Florida shows keep up the good work so Ed reports back to the guys and DEMAND PJ plays the south on their next tour. :corn:

two very classy ladies. a big thank you to anita and linda for passing both afternoons of the jax shows with me. i wish everyone on these boards could have the opportunity to meet fans like these girls. not enough words to describe the feeling of how awesome it is to connect with total strangers, while feeling like you have known them your entire life. saturday night was EPIC. thank you ed.

    PS - these 2 shows make my son's 5th, and he's not yet 2!
