Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I'm interested in picking up a new turntable for vinyl and I'm wondering if you could get a really good but relatively inexpensive turntable, what would you get?

It also might help to know that most stereo receivers do not have a phono input, which means you will need a preamp to get your maximum volume from the turntable, otherwise it's running at half output and you lose the whole essence of listening to vinyl. a good preamp is going to set you back $150-200,almost as much as the audiotechnica turntable.
I upgraded to a B&O turntable, and still use my preamp on my Pioneer receiver.
For browsing, I'd suggest going to http://www.needledoctor.com/
They have all kinds of turntables, parts, and record cleaning equipment and supplies, too. Very reasonable in price, too.
PS- most turntables are pretty much the same, but the true quality comes from the cartridge/needle.
That's something I never would have thought of! Thanks man!
