Show 2
Set List

01. Brain Damage-(Waters) {played behind the front curtain}
02. Sometimes {curtain opens to reveal Ed}
03. Can’t Keep (Ed forgets first line and stops playing. He has trouble hearing what people are suggesting and it takes some time for someone in the audience to come up with “I want to shake...”)
04. Sleeping By Myself
05. Without You

(Ed asks to see the audience so the house lights are brought up a bit. Ed talks about the building and its age. He says ukuleles probably were played a fair bit here. This song is from about 15 years after this building was built)

06. More Than You Know-(Rose, Eliscu, Youmans)
07. I Am Mine
08. You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away-(Lennon, McCartney)

(Ed swaps acoustic guitars and comments that the one he is holding now was made about five years after the theater was built. He speculates that it might even have been played here. He also notes that he is seeing a lot of parents bringing young children to the shows. Ed apologizes because he knows he is going to use bad language and the parents are going to have to explain to the kids what those words mean. “You know, well that word is how you kids were made...No..not cocksucker....oops, fuck.” Ed then talks about how the next song is more than just a love song but a song about the relationship between parents and children. He dedicates the song to the parents who bring their children to the show.)

09. Just Breathe (Ed knows he has mentioned it before but it was such an honor to have a great songwriter like Willie Nelson cover one of his songs that once he heard it, he couldn’t stop doing it like Willie.)

10. Man Of The Hour
(audience member shouts “4/20/02”. Ed notes that the request is for a song about Layne Staley of “Alice In Chains”. This leads to a brief discussion of drugs and a Bill Hicks reference. Ed moves onto the top of Man of The Hour. As Ed reveals the song is about the difficult relationships between parents and children and how children, no matter how innocent they seem, eventually they are going to rebel. Ed says he is lucky. He hasn’t had to deal with that yet. He talks briefly about Chris McCandless from “Into The Wild”)

11. Far Behind (Ed starts to play and realizes he has the wrong guitar. He gets the right one and starts over)
12. Setting Forth
13. Guaranteed

(Ed notes that he has liked being in Tulsa and was excited for the show but that he has made more mistakes tonight than he has the whole tour. He says he heard the theater was haunted and jokingly suggests that the ghost has possessed him and doesn’t know how to play any of the songs. He also tells a story about trying to explain the meaning of the lyrics of Guaranteed to his very young daughter. The line “don’t come closer or I’ll have to go” was too complex to explain to her so he told her Chris was saying that to the bear in the film. She was cautious when she would visit her dad in the studio because she thought the bear might be at the studio as well.)

14. Rise
15. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard

(“I am going to play this for the love of my life. She isn’t here tonight, I hope yours is.”)

16. Picture In A Frame-(Brennan, Waits)
17. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
18. Lukin
19. Porch

Encore Break 1

(Ed looks at a pile of requests that have made it to the stage. He jokes that he will look these over and get them for tomorrow night's show. People laugh and start shouting requests again. Ed says “Okay, the forums are closed.” He talks about his days as a waiter and says he doesn’t take orders any more. Unless they are “from Stone Gossard, then I say, ‘yes sir’....sometimes...” Another person shouts that they are glad Ed is feeling better he talks about his injury in the spring and how he couldn’t play for more than 90 seconds. He then breaks in to the fast strumming he plays in “Millworker” showing that he is back in good form. after that he says the next song was a request he got earlier in the day)

20. Millworker middle section Jam
21. The Kid’s Are Alright-(Townshend)
22. Unthought Known
(Ed invites Glen out to play the next few songs. Ed says the next song is by Jerry Hannan. A great songwriter from Northern California. I am glad he let me sing his song. (for the film Into The Wild) It might be my favorite one on the album.)

23. Society w/ Glen Hansard-(Hannan)
24. Sleepless Nights w/ Glen Hansard-(Bryant, Bryant) busking no mics or PA

(Ed talks about growing up in working class Chicago and Glen in Ireland. He talks about Woody Guthrie and the next song. He asks the audience to sing along)

25. This Land Is Your Land w/ Glen Hansard-(Guthrie)

(Ed says “one of our long time crew members, who has been with us through some of the toughest times including Roskilde couldn’t be here but some of his family are. His name is Pete Beattle and I would like to dedicates the next song to the members of the Wilkins family.”)

26. Falling Slowly w/ Glen Hansard-(Hansard, Irglová)
27. Forever Young-(Dylan)
28. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)

Encore Break 2

(Ed has a young boy come on stage to start the tape machine for “Hard Sun”

29. Hard Sun w/ Glen Hansard-(Peterson)
30. Dream A Little Dream-(Kahn, Schwandt, Andree)

Great night....Glen killed it. Eddie pointed to our 4year old daughter and smiled and waved to her...the sound in the building was amazing.
It was a great experience for me, my wife , and our two girls.

Were you sitting at the front of section N in the balcony? If so, I was a few rows behind you. That was a very cool moment when he waved at them.

Loved that they did This Land Is Your Land again and really enjoyed them singing w/o the mics, even if it took awhile for people to realize that they needed to be quiet.
  • great set...cant wait what eddie gonna do at Memphis..i hope he will play Broken heart...
will be special for a little chickie who will be at the show :)

  • What a special night... Eddied brought it once again. Its amazing how this dude can make everyone feel so lucky, every time he performs.

Rise, MOTH, Falling Slowly highlights for me. RITFW and Smalltown sing alongs w/ the PJ fam always fun.

It was particularly special for me to be able to meet my sis, who flew from jersey to meet me here. She took me to my first PJ show 17+ years ago... thanks jc.

Also, with both of us leaving our spouses and kiddos behind, all the love Ed gave for the kiddos made it pretty special. Thanks Ed.

I had an amazing day yesterday. I'm going to provide a brief context so perhaps it might be clearer why this day was so important to me so plz don't get bored. :) I had never seen ev solo before and haven't seen pj in 13 years (gasp!). I was lucky to see them multiple times in the 90s including in '92 when I was 19 years old. They were such a huge part of very important years for me like so many of us. Then I started having kids (3 of them) and immersed myself in being a mom. In the process I lost a little piece of myself. I have no regrets. The fact is that babies and small children have intense needs for their mommies especially. Well they are now bigger and those needs are less physically dependent on me. My husband (who has become my betterman over the years) made it possible for me to attend this show. I flew from NJ to Oklahoma to meet my brother who is also a huge fan and who I haven't seen in a long while to attend the show. We arrived very early at the theater and got to see Eddie briefly on his way in. Thx to the tall guy in the green shirt who gave me his spot so I could be right in front. Very cool! I am also a Pink Floyd fan and Eddies voice sounds so good on Brain Damage. I was hoping for I am Mine bc this is one of the songs that really grabbed me when I first started listening to pj again. Every single song was excellently performed and Eddie sounded so good. He is funny and happy and I hung in every word and note. He spoke a lot about raising kids and how the relationship between parent and child changes through the years. I loved The kids are Alright (which rocked of course) and dedicated Just Breathe to parents. I will never hear this song too many times. I loved the stories about his kids and dedicating Picture in a Frame to his wife. Small town, Lukin and Porch had the entire place on their feet singing along. Porch is so amazing acoustic and live. I don't have any words that describe that experience! All of the duets with Glen were breathtaking. This Land is Your Land was really special... Such a meaningful song and Eddie beautifully singing harmony so perfectly blended with Glen's voice. Falling slowly was even more breathtaking live. Then he played Forever Young....so powerful and full of emotion. You just know that he feels every word that he sings but this one was especially emotional for me too. RITFW and Hard sun had the entire theater jumping and singing together. What an amazing feeling to be part if that! Then to top it all off after all that high energy and rockin music he sat back down with his uke and played Dream a little dream for a cute couple in the front row. This man is an amazing artist and person. I rode a rollercoaster of emotion last night and enjoyed every minute of it!! This show felt so relevant to me and I really enjoyed living in the moment and experiencing every detail. We need boots bc we know how our thoughts fade as the years go by! To top all of this off we waited outside after the show with a fairly long line of other fans. Eddie came out and shook all of our hands. He had to be exhausted but to give again to his fans proves what a class act he is. Thank you Eddie for another great night! I'm not waiting 13 more years to see you again! See you and your friends at MSG next year!!

Thx for reading if you made it to the end!

    Peace

    Jen

  • Great shows, both nights. Never thought I'd see Eddie in my home town.
  • Amazing show! Eddie Vedder is a complete professional and gave his best. The venue was much smaller than I expected, I don't believe there is a bad seat in the whole place. Thank you Eddie. Keep on Rockin!

Was sitting in the middle back for this. It's my first official Eddie show (went to the West Memphis 3 benefit gig in Little Rock though).

I have to say that a huge thank you to Eddie is given on my end. I ended up taking my mom as a gift to her. She hasn't been to a concert since I was born, and lately we've been going through some rough times since the loss of her mom and my uncles current condition. The fact that Ed was dedicated songs to "the parents out there" and was singing some emotional songs, it was just perfect for her. There's songs I would've much rather heard (had I gone to night 1, I would've been set for life), but I absolutely loved the setlist. My mom loved it more than she thought she would, she had her hidden doubts but she confessed later on the long ride back home that she really really enjoyed it (she then asked me to give her a PJ history lesson, lol, and now wants to see the whole band).

And thank you to Glen Hansard as well. The show was great like I expected, but Glen you rose above my expectations and if you come through my neck of the woods again I'd be tempted to jump towards that showing.

  • HA! I took my mom to the show, too. Her first EV/PJ show. I was out hunting in NW OK since Thursday, drove to OKC, tried to take a nap and she didn't want me to drive to T-town from OKC alone. It was a good thing, because I probably would have fallen asleep while driving.

My mom has heard me talk about EV/PJ over the years from going to their shows and the BSBs. She appreciated Ed before the show, but she is impressed by him now.

Somehow this managed to top night 1 for me. (see night 1 review)
It fucking blows my mind at how Ed knows how to capture a crowd and make it feel like every song is being played for you or those around you. Picture In A Frame, Forever Young, Man Of The Hour, Kids Are Alright, This Land Is Your Land...just fucking awesome! Every second of this show was a "don't wanna miss" moment for me.

I said Small Town was the perfect night 1 opener. Brain Damage was incredible for night 2.

Glen Hansard is just simply fantastic. "Coffee To Go" was great!!!

Post show depression has completely set in. Monday was just an absolutely perfect day for me. So sad its over.

Oh BTW, MUCH better crowd night 2. Almost no yelling and when there was it seemed to be positive interaction with the artists. Waaaaaaaaaaay more respect for Glen which he absolutely deserves.

Another awesome set. The crowd was a lot more relaxed. loved hearing You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away, Man Of The Hour, Forever Young. Elderly Woman is always a good sing along song. Over the two nights we got some amazing songs.

  • Amazing show. Pissed however, that the crowd ruined the first half of 'Sleepless Nights'. Eddie and Glen got almost half way through it before you could even hear it, thanks to all the idiots.
