Does Ed Have Any Idea Where He Is? Crowd?! (6/1)

Yesterday at the show he refered to the Bushleager thing at Uniondale and addressed it as "last time we were here" then he said something like..."Last time we were here there was a sign that said Play Leash You Pussies"...

Both things happened in different places, Unidondale and MSG.

Did he just mean like in the NY area?

It was pretty funny after they played it he was like "are we still pussies?"

Another thing though...what the fuck was with the 200s level? people were SITTING DOWN for all of encore 1 and half of encore 2!!! what the hell???

The crowd was so weird though. They were either NUTS or not doing anything. Even Flow we were supposed to sing a long and no one if any one sang a long...hense why Ed said Boston was better. But other songs people were into. Everyone was into it until Even Flow, then Immortality got everyone into it again and then it died out again.

Alone was great. People went nuts, and then when they restarted the song because of Stone's guitar problem people went nuts again pretending that they never heard the beginning of it. Ha.

Footsteps was gorgeous!! Everyone sang to it, we even got a singing part for it.

Another example of people getting into it and then not...was Last Exit, it just died. But then Comatose started and Comatose was probably the most intense part of the whole show. It was great, very weird.

Overall a great show!! Indifference to close was amazing, they should do that instead of YL for now on.

Let us just hope that Saturday the people in the 200s don't sit down because I got 200s seats (Unless anyone has something better that I will pay for :) ). It was like anyone in the 100s level and floor were the "real fans" and everyone in the upperlevel were like casual fans. People in the 200s LEFT during Baba, wtf?

Last time they played Continental Airlines Arena was in '98 and it was the "Breath" signs that were being held up, so yeah, I think he meant the NY crowd in general. Either that, or he was just really hammered ;)

  • 200's at Continental suck because you feel you are a mile away,, they should have came back to Nassau or played some MSG shows

thats exactly how i felt! i got screwed out of fan club tickets which i wasn't too happy about cuz i'm 140xxx, so i ended up having to get ticketmaster, and i got to observe a lot of the people in the arena while i was up there, i was in 228, and it was exactly how hail hail said! it was very wierd. a lot of people were sitting down the WHOLE time, but me and some around me were up rocking the whole time, although the real energy of the crowd never really reached me, i still had a blast

If you live in Seattle, the whole area of NYC and surrounding is kind of 'here' I think.

I felt like last night's show had a lot of up and down moments, kinda like a roller coaster ride. I think some people were hoping for a surprise opener and maybe Severed Hand was a bit of a letdown. Then I think people are tired to Even Flow and in all fairness I do not think last night's version was good at all. Mike's guitar solo wasnt as great as it can be, and the song really just felt like filler.
But then Immortality, Footsteps, Why Go, Leash, Alive, Dissident, Glorified G, Not For You....all fantastic and Im so happy they played them.

You're right though, the upper level people werent even standing at all. Do you guys think maybe this is due to them entering the mainstream a bit more now? With WWS and now a music video I can see more fair-weather fans showing up just hoping to hear 1 or 2 songs.

When in Albany, Ed mentioned that GONE was written "near here", which of course was written in Atlantic City. He referenced Poughkeepsie & Ithaca while in Atlantic City. I agree with Jane's assessment.

You guys are right about the crowd last night, ups and downs, but I think it built toward the end. and yeah chucking Indifference in there to break things up was awesome. but enough with the clapping during the WHOLE song!
oh yeah does anybody know what that was in the middle of the RVM jam, a cover or an improv? It was awesome though, the whole show to this hardcore fan and my friends who are other hardcore fans, was fucking awesome. Footsteps? Why Go? Indifference? hell if I'd known I get them in one show, I'd pay more money! GO PEARL JAM!
  • ah, come on, not everybody has to rock out on their feet the whole time. I think some people that don't know the songs that well are really kind of flabbergasted by the whole thing and taking it in. Some people like to watch the stage. I see nothing wrong sitting down for the acoustic set either. I was dancing like a maniac during the first set, especially Not For You and Green Disease, and then I chilled during Man of the Hour and Comeback. And I fucking loved Comeback, it was probably my highlight of the night... and yes, I was fucking sitting down for it.

  • Last night I was in Section 211.. There was one song, late, maybe come back ... I was the ONLY one standing within 30 feet of me. I didn't understand?! People tired? Drained from the rain? From the show? I dunno, people up there just weren't that into it the whole show. They had their moments.

hey guys, don't post much and not a tenclub member but a huge fan.

been to a couple shows over the years and thought last night was an AWESOME SHOW. unfortunatley, i was up in the 200s in the back, first row though. i have to agree, a lot of people around me sat but i was up and rocking. it was weird though, the people on both sides of me were obviously big fans who knew most of the songs, but i think sitting that far away kills the energy a little

one thing ive noticed this tour is that at the three shows ive been to there have been no monitor screens so people in the back can get a close up view of the band. i was in the back of the pavilion at hartford and last night there was nothing so that kind of sucked.

either way, i like the view of the arena i had. being first row of the upper deck you feel like you're floating above this sea of people. BABA was NUTS and so were several other moments.

unfortunately i can't go saturday but last night reconfirmed my love for pj.

agree with that statement: when you're far away, you more inclined to seat. Just makes sense, IMO.

hey look at it this way, when everyone else is sitting and your the only one standing and focused up at the stage, it kinda feels like your the only one there :)

  • i'm guessing they stay somewhere in NYC, then take a 45 minute drive to the venue, cross a few bridges... I think that's whyhe mentioned the nassau show as "the last time we were here"
  • Seems like a lot of people agree

Last night I was in 233 and 98% of our section was up and rockin'. I also had to get ticketbastard tickets because I know more than 1 other person that wants to go. Please do not call people in the 200s "casual fans" because we are not. All of us have been fans for over 15 years and we are happy just to be in the building together "listening" to the music. Every one would like to be close but that can't happen.

Part of the crowd noise problem that every one has been complaining about is mostly due to the terrible acoustics in that building. I thought that the crowd was great and I don't think we would have gotten that amazing show if we weren't into it!! I sure was and so were all of my friends and we were rewarded with one of the greatest shows I have ever seen!

Please someone tell Eddie to take good care of is ankle so that he can rock out just as hard as he did last night on saturday because we will be there again in the 200s singing, dancing, and yelling as loud as we can for our favorite band.
