That truly sucks, Pandora. But here's your golden opportunity: Start up a new snack treat munchies company that makes healthy treats that taste good- you'll have almost 18,000 people looking to fill various positions. Start it up in Colorado- "The Munchies State". :P

they will be sold, probably to Bimbo (pronounced 'beembo') and Twinkies won't go away.

hard-line Union stances don't work in this economy. they will always lose.

uh oh you said that dirty word... healthy ;)

I thought too maybe someone already in the biz will make some spin off treats.

Colorado the munchies state ... Washington now the runner up. :D

I never had many twinkies ... those little cupcakes were always my favorite.
    Bye gone era now.
  • It's not Obama's or the Unions fault in this case it is poor management. Hostess has been in bankruptcy since January. They have been trying to restructure. The company management decided unilaterally to determine pay and benefits with the union workers and that is why they went on strike. The workers already had their pension removed and now they were getting pay cuts and reduced benefits. While I am no fan of unions, I understand why they went on strike. Why wouldn't someone get upset when executives unilaterally decide to destroy their pensions, reduce their wages and benefits while at the same time these executives are not willing to take any pay cuts. Most of these middle executives probably can't even justify their overpaid jobs. It is sad when the little guy gets crushed to maintain the status quo for the elite.

I am sorry a company is closing and people are losing their jobs, sorry for those that will miss twinkies, but the cakes never appealed to me - I'm not a big fan of sweets.

Did you know: The original filling was banana creme. The original price was 5 cents for a package of two & 40,000 miles of plastic wrap is used to wrap 1 year's production of Twinkies. The flavor of the Twinkie creme changed during World War II due to banana rationing...

Never did like those disgusting little treats...A Drake's Funny Bone however...

Some company will buy the rights to their shitty little snack cakes. They will still be made, they just won't have a Hostess label.

    Sure it will.
Some private equity group will buy the company for pennies on the dollar and make a fortune.
