Just a reminder that the Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit live album "Live In Alabama" is out today. You can preview the whole thing on Spotify.

I listened to about 1/2 of it at work today. Nice sampling of DBT and solo stuff.

The horn section is a great touch, especially on Goddamn Lonely Love and Heart on a String.

Would have loved to get a live version of Codeine w/ Amanda on fiddle though.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Doesn't hit the streets until next week.....
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
  • My mistake...with it being on Spotify...thought it was out this week. Thanks for the heads up.

With Isbell living in Nashville, he has tons of dates there now. Unfortunately, with a 6 year old and a job I'm chained down to, I'm not able to get there to see him perform.

  • He's playing at Grimey's in Nashville tonight. Actually, he's playing a lot around here next month.

Again, real-life restraints keep me from seeing him live. Really enjoying the new live album though.

Great little live album....listened to it a couple of times today....cool cover of "Like a Hurricane".....for some reason, I have the same problem when Jason plays here in B'ham......something always comes up, and we can't go.

That guitar solo on Decoration Day is awesome. Forgot what a great guitar player Jason is.

  • The only thing I wish they would've have included was a live version of "Psycho Killer". I have several bootlegged versions...a proper version would have been great.

Other than that, it's top notch.

One of my favourite releases from the last year. Saw Jason here in the UK back in May, played a solo gig in the downstairs room of a pub in London to about 100-150 people. Second time of seeing him, last time he came over with 1/2 of the 400 Unit (they referred to themselves as the Alabama Power Trio). There's a video from the "power trio" gig here:

Wish I could've seen him with the Truckers but cancellations and real life stopped me.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

He mentioned on Twitter that he was releasing via Spotify a week early...that's where he swerved you, PBM.
