What i thought was interesting about my state of FLorida was that most of the counties that were BLue are College and University counties.

(this is from 2008, but this years is the same)
    Top - Leon is FSU
Center - Alachua is University of FLorida
    Lower center - UCF
    west - USF
South - most populated and contains FAU and U of M

So I guess Mitt was smart to go after college kids by saying that 50% of recent graduates arent working or cant find a job in their field.
College Kids and Jews like me

There are Jews in South Fla?!
The cleaning lady in my office who is from Haiti, saw a bass amplifier in the corner of my office yesterday and asked if I play Jewish music. I was dumbfounded. I suppose I was stereotyped because my entire office is Jewish, besides me...but my last name sounds very Jewish too. I dont know what the hell that has to do with anything, carry on...oh yeah, oye vey, there are a ton of Jews in South Florida, especially in Boca Raton, or Del boca Vista as Jerry Seinfeld likes to say.

Some of those are counties are where universities are located but he carried Dallas County, which used to be a Republican stronghold but has gone to the Dems the last few elections. Obama also carried counties in the Rio Grande Valley which tend to be very impoverished for the most part (and not the sites of universities).

Pistachio is NOT a Jewish name

(nice Seinfeld reference, by the way - though I read it in the voice of an agitated Frank C.)

I looked at a county map for KY and wasn't surprised that Jefferson Co. (Louisville) and Fayette Co. (Lexington) went to Obama. But I was surprised that Elliott Co. in far Eastern KY went to Obama. Here's the super extra nerdy part, I had to look up why a mountain county goes Democrat. This is what I found:

Elliott County has voted for the Democratic Party's nominee in every Presidential election since it incorporated in 1869. This is the longest ongoing streak of any county voting Democratic in the United States.[3]

Elliott County was the second whitest county in the country, at 99.04%, to vote for Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential election, the whitest being Mitchell County, Iowa. Obama garnered 61% of the vote, while John McCain received 36%. In 2008, Elliott county provided Obama with the highest percentage of the winning vote out of all Kentucky counties.[4]

As of 2012, Elliott county had the fewest number of registered Republicans, 187, out of all counties in Kentucky

Just surprised me and thought I would share :D
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

The border counties are in what I described as the Rio Grande Valley.

    Pistachio isnt Jewish! :o
Now that reminds me of another classic -- The movie The Jerk, when Steve Martin says "you mean I'm not black!?"

and its always more fun to say lines in Frank C's agitated voice. How that man kept a straight face delivering those lines is beyond me.
