Death metal - how people like this I do not understand

Those growls, wtf is that. Sounds sick, like something out of exorcism.
Anyone here into this?
The growling sounds like breathing in.
I prefer normal singing.

Very true. SLC has a big metal scene. A good number of my friends are huge metal guys that love this shit. Personally, I can't get into it. But I always find it amusing how they ask me if I've heard about "Necrophelic Face Crusher" or some band like that like they're a really well known group.

i like some metal but death metal not particularly.

I do like some Nile and i think they are death metal.
I don't think Amon Amarth are death metal but if they are i like them.
Opeth has death metal parts to their music and they are cool

it's not for everyone but the vocal style is almost like an instrument. It's supposed to be aggressive like the song.

now i'll take some melodic metal or sludgey metal 7 days a week and twice on sunday (mastodon, baroness, and other similar style stuff)

I'm not very good with all the classifications of metal, so I'm not sure if what I enjoy is technically Death Metal. I am into some very extreme, loud, aggressive music with gutteral vocals and wild screaming. I fully understand, however, why the majority of people don't like it.
