    no, the jig is up.

    this was an electoral beatdown.

you guys have to start playing ball for the good of the country.

But didn't the House become MORE Republican? I'm confused. The single body that's been accused of stonewalling the President (one perspective) became MORE Republican? If anything, this election cemented/confirmed that folks are ok with the last 2 years - Senate got MORE Democratic, House got MORE Republican and Executive Branch saw no change.

How do you interpret that as the jig being up? It looks like the country just voted for MORE of the same.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Here's a question for our Republican friends...
Do you think that every American should have access to affordable Health Care Services?
I'm guessing you are saying, 'Yes'.
So, HOW would YOU go about doing this?
Why not try to modify the existing Health Care Act... maybe to install parts of the Romney Plan he set up in Massachusetts?
Maybe... instead of constantly trying to repeal it (which is going to take monsterous amounts of time, effort and money we should be using elsewhere), you try to modify it to look more like the way you want it to look.
    ...
Because this childish gridlock is doing NOTHING for us... but, your Reperesentatives are STILL getting paid their salaries. They do nothing... but, still get paid. How does that help you?

uh... no. Who told you that? The numbers are pretty much identical and it was the Senate where Mitch McConnell flapped his jowls as he said his one goal was to ruin the president... and he failed. Republicans lost 4 seats where they hoped to pick up 20.

It's those exact obstructionist, juvenile and counter-productive policies that turned the majority of the electorate against the Republican party... and it's only going to get worse. This was the last possible chance for Republicans to run from their policies from the 1950s.

In four years, states like Florida will be out of reach for Republicans. Virginia and possibly even Arizona will be left-leaning swing states. In eight, Texas will be a swing state.

Republicans are going to have to admit that their "favor the rich white guys and punish the latino, black and gay voters" strategy was a disaster. They had a billion dollars from their top donors and it got nothing but their own asses handed to them on a big plate.

It's time to change strategy. This one didn't work.

    No..

    1) In Canada.. Fox News is illegal. There is a law that you can't lie while delivering the news in Canada and Fox News is the only network that refused to abide by that law.

    2) Canada will take refugees from other countries happily. We're a multicultural country and love diversity. We see it as a positive thing. But we don't take people from other countries just because they don't like their elected leader. That doesn't make you a refugee. That makes you a racist sore loser and we don't want you.

    3) Fred Phelps isn't allowed in Canada. Why do you think we'll take the Tea Brewers?

    4) You're from Alabama, Mississippi and Kansas, you little wuss. You think you can take a Canadian winter? Because you can't. You'd make it to about January 15th before you were begging that handsome, strapping lumberjack to marry you, make you his bitch and cuddle you by the fire all night. And if you don't know how to cook Moosemeat and Maple Syrup... he doesn't want you.

yea we do have fox news...we also have a Canadian version, called sun news, neither of which I watch...

we don't take in refugees as happily as we once did (we have a conservative government)...

A lot of Canada our winters aren't so bad ass anymore...

but republicans won't come here anyways...can most americans even find Canada ;)

We do not have Fox news. We can pay for the American feed, but Fox news is not allowed to have a Canadian subsidiary - they tried and were denied last year because they are indeed deemed illegal because they are fake news posing as factual news. As for your thoughts about the Sun.... not the same at all. Fox news is way beyond what even the most cynical person could ever accuse the Sun of being.

Anyway, it's clear that any American claiming they want to come to Canada because Obama won is simply so fucking stupid it's hard to conceive. They want to flee to a country that is far more socialist than they accuse Obama of being, which is supposedly what they hate about him so much they want to leave. It's hilarious how dumb these people are. Trust me, none of those idiots will even be able to deal with the initial paperwork it would take just to get temporary residency, much less citizenship. And thank god, because none of us want a bunch of republican extremists up here messing up the gene pool.

Is this what your referring to...if you got a link where Fox actually applied to open a subsidiary in Canada I'd be happy to read it, however, I do wonder why they would want to spend money entering the Canadian market when their already here. The same shows the US watches on Fox is available to us in Canada.

As for the Sun news it is right wing news network...it will never seem as right wing as fox because for the most even the most right wing of Canadians are not nearly as right as the American right.

If it's owned by the sun newspaper chain, I can only imagine how good they are.

Yeah, as I said, you can get the American feed. But Fox News cannot act as a Canadian news source using Canadian airwaves. The difference is HUGE, in that we don't get CANADIAN politics and other daily Canadian news being turned into lies by Fox. Yes, it's bad enough that we can still watch Fox News USA as though it might be real news (although I don't know any Canadians at all who watch if for anything other than pure entertainment - they treat it like it's the National Inquirer). Plus, you have to pay for the News package in your digital cable plan to even get it.... I used to pay for it, but I found myself overly tempted to watch Fox News the way one might watch Jersey Shore - for the train wreck - and decided that was just making my brain mushy, so I cancelled the package. I imagine that Fox News is on a regular basic cable kind of package in the States, which makes it available to pretty much everyone down there. Not so in Canada.

It is using Canadian airwaves, satellite, cable those are who broadcasting fox news, and if they decided to do 1 hour of news a night focused on Canada, good luck stopping them...they never tried to open a fox news in Canada they don't need to...

It is using Canadian airwaves, satellite, cable those are who broadcasting fox news, and if they decided to do 1 hour of news a night focused on Canada, good luck stopping them...they never tried to open a fox news in Canada they don't need to...
Sorry, misspoke. What I meant to say is that they are not allowed a Canadian broadcaster's license. They actually did plan on applying for that license, but when they learned that they would be denied, the declined to submit it. They could put an hour of Cdn news on their American broadcast if they wanted to, but why would they do that??

Fox News isn't illegal in Canada ... The only info regarding Fox News that I could find is that they were denied access to be included in the basic cable packages and that had more to do with people not wanting to pay more for their cable. But to say its illegal is misleading ... I guess the Republican supporters aren't the only one's who spread misinformation ;).

Not really misleading... It would be illegal:

"Canada regulators announced they would reject efforts by Canada's right wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news.

Canada's Radio Act requires that "a licenser may not broadcast....any false or misleading news." (quoted from Huffington Post)

Given this, Fox News as a licensed Canadian broadcaster WOULD be illegal assuming they did their Fox News thing.

There's absolutely no way Fox News was setting up Its own affiliate in Canada, not when people can watch it depending what cable/sat package you have. And I'm sure if they wanted their own affiliate they'd succeed in getting it...it wouldn't be the first time Harper over ruled the CRTC.

Doesn't really matter to me most mainstream media likes to mislead...

Well... that's what happened - believe what you want. ;)
Fox News is in a world of its own; I don't think you can compare other news networks to it at all.

I asked for a link where they were specifically denied a licence, I'd be interested in reading the CRTC ruling on this ... I googled and about the only thing I found is the CRTC would deny a licence if you were broadcasting false news. Well they are already broadcasting in Canada ... so I highly doubt they were looking to set up shop.

They tried to get added to basic cable packages and were denied because it would increase price.

But if you have a link where they were denied a licence i'd be happy to read it. But as for Fox being illegal ... how anyone can subscribe to the channel ?? :fp: :fp:
