Also former bassist Nick Oliveri is apparently recorded some vocals on a new song with his former bandmates

This album is just getting crazier and crazier with each tidbit of news. I absolutely can't wait.

sweet jesus I can't wait for this record. Having Trent, Grohl, and Lannegan on the record has me very excited. The beauty of QOTSA is you ALWAYS get a much different record with each release and it's so hard to even think about what it could sound like...but you know it will be badass. Pumped!

Dave Grohl won’t tour with Queens of the Stone Age
Dave Grohl won’t be touring with Queens of the Stone Age even though he plays drums on their new record, he told CBS Local.Grohl also said in the interview that he expects Them Crooked Vultures, his band with Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones to play together again.

“We’ve talked about it, I know that someday we’ll get back together and do stuff, because we love playing with each other,” Grohl explained.

Grohl recently described Queens of the Stone Age as “the baddest rock and roll band in the world”. Speaking to the BBC, he said: "With Queens of the Stone Age, like, there were no boundaries with that band, there were no limits with them, it was like if you did something insane, you’d do more, if you did something that seemed too ridiculous– and honestly the new Queens of the Stone Age record, I’m playing drums on that, and I’ll do something so completely ridiculous, I’ll just, like, 'There’s no way that that Josh isn’t going to let me do that', and he’ll say, 'Do that for 45 seconds, over and over again, that’s become, like, part of the song, that is a big part of the song,' and that’s the way they work."

Hoping he'll at least play a show or two with them in LA. *Fingers crossed*

  • Wasn't impressed with the last album they put out....BUT this one is hopefully a return to better stuff. Especially with Dave on the skins.

Era Vulgaris had some of QOTSA's greatest songs, such as Run Pig Run and River in the Road, but also some duds. They at least were trying some different stuff.

I don't know how they can screw up this new album, but we'll see.
