is a captive state, or so it seems.
Too bad the trainer invaded that territory.

Breaking an animal's spirit to render them docile, for entertainment and for profit
is absolutely abominable, not to mention cruelty at it's worse.
How many humans would enjoy being beaten every time they step out of line?
want to be enlightened"
with all the current animal rights laws, I highly doubt that the circus still use the same tactics that the PETA members show when they protest the circuses now. Those videos are from the 70s and 80s.
PETA likes to jump all over supposed 'facts' and blow things out of proportion.

you'd highly doubt ... but we're talking about money here and people are greedy and people will do whatever the cuss they want for said money ...
marineland up here has been treating animals cruelly for years now and it's actually worse than one would imagine ...
and now aren't they threatening to sue the trainer who talked?

yes, I highly doubt. I am speaking for US laws, I don't know about Canadian laws. I worked in the animal industry for 5 years, PETA is NOT as highly regarded as you'd think.

yup ... just goes to show ...
well ... it depends on how one views PETA and industry ... i don't really care for PETA to be quite honest but I do know that animals should not be held in cages especially animals like bears and dolphins and whales ... it doesn't take any organization to point that out ... all in the name of profits ...
Sometime it takes "blown out of proportion" to bring things to people's attention. And if PETA only shows the worst of the worst, but accomplishes awareness of the horrificness of a caged animal's life, then good for PETA.
Circuses that travel with caged animals should be against the law period. And that's even before considering what the training must be like. Are there monitored surveillance cameras on all of the animals all of the time? If not, then what good is a law that, when it comes down to it, there's still just the trainer and the animal behind closed doors.....and the "show must go on".
Circuses with animal acts = cruelty.
Tell your kids everyone.
Why isn't this thread in the moving train?
I want to see 'undercover video' of how the animals are treated now, compare it to the videos they show that are from years ago. Is there video? PETA always sends someone in to work undercover. If there is no video, it's probably because there ISN'T anything to show.
I'm willing to go to the circus and drill a PETA member about current video. In all honesty, PETA reminds me of all those abortion protesters that bomb clinics.

RKCNDY! You're so misinformed!
There's undercover video all over the internet of recent undercover animal circus training....it's absolutely sickening.
I mean even if you just think about it...
the performing animals are wild animals.
Their instinct is to get as far away from a
The ONLY reason that the animals are this submissive is because they' are deathly afraid.
and NO, they're NOT afraid of being yelled at.
the videos show just how bad it really is.
c'mon now.
and the abortion clinic bombing comparison?
PETA bombs places? or what harrm do they do? I haven't heard about this so I'm asking sincerely
don't they throw paint onto coats?
haha yeah.
compare with......don't they throw bombs into buildings?
the last time I went to the circus (about 6 years ago), the PETA people were there scaring the little kids, "do you know what they do to the animals?!?" and they showed on their portable video screens old footage that has been around since the 80s to the kids. So I haven't seen any recent footage.
PETA reminds me of the abortion clinic bombers because most of the 'facts' they spread are old and outdated. They present their 'beliefs' as 'facts' which in my mind is :nono: Also them scaring the little kids is unfair. Sure I don't like kids, but PETA doesn't need to make that experience traumatic for a kid.
oh and this doesn't do much for PETA: http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archi ... ls/254130/
looks like they have bombed labs too: http://www.squidoo.com/extreme-peta
and as 81 said, they do throw red paint on people who are wearing fur.
I am NOT for harming animals, but where do we stop at 'trained animals for entertainment'? Are horses okay? I mean, there is horse racing, isn't that cruel? Is taking a horse drawn carriage ride thru a downtown city cruel? (it can be considered entertainment). Is someone owning a falcon and having it fly around the stadium before a football game cruel?
I'm only playing all sides of the argument, not trying to start anything.
