A Charity Art Auction for James John Elementary School

Hello PJ Community!
I'm honored to be a part of a great collaboration that I'd like to share with you.
My son, Auston, goes to James John here in Portland, Oregon. We are considered a Title 1 school. Basically, that means we are a very low income school and have families in need. So, we must fundraise!
We have some great local artisits, along with poster artists Jay Ryan, Gary Houston and Mike King, creating original variations of their favorite popular album covers.
This is where I need your help. ARTISTS NEEDED! If you know of any 'big name' artisits willing to contribute, please contact me. OR if you're interested in bidding on these pieces, contact me for show specifics.
It really is for a great cause and great community here in the Portland Pacific Northwest. Here is some info...
The Brigade & Deweywood Present
A Charity Art Auction for James John Elementary School
Curated by Patrick Pendergast
Portland design studio’s The Brigade & Deweywood need your help to bring interactive learning to one of Portland Oregon's most underserved elementary schools. We are asking artists to pay homage to a classic album that inspired them. We are providing a 12x12 piece of bamboo for the work unless you prefer another format. The art will be displayed in Deweywood’s hand crafted bamboo & leather record frames at a silent auction in Portland, at the end of January.
About the Event:
The opening will take place in the end of January 2013 at The Briagde HQ in St Johns and feature live music from local musicians along with a raffle drinks and other awesomeness to help us reach our goal.
About the charity:
The funds raised will be used to put iPads in the classrooms of James John Elementary School in St Johns. The use of iPads in the classroom gives educators another tool to use, in a multitude of ways. Budget cuts have left James John without a music and art program. Teachers are searching for new and innovative ways to bring the arts into the classroom, and the iPad offers a unique platform.Sam Leach, a third grade teacher at James John, asked the question, "what does learning sound like?" Sam, like many other teachers at James John is a musician, and uses the iPad to showcase famous artists and play music for his class. Sam adds that the iPad has proven to enhance students learning experiences, from skill development with real time feedback, to deepening conceptual understanding all in a intuitive interface that sparks the imagination. About The Brigade:
The Brigade is a design studio based in Portland Oregon founded by partners with a shared passion for user centered design, music and technology. We are focused on building apps and awesome interactive experiences for leading brands including Spotify, Mindjet & Intel.
About Deweywood:
Deweywood is the collaborative work of Trent Waneka and Evan Parker. We believe function is the purpose for creation, and design is the style that sets the creators apart. We seek quality and beauty in this world and we hope to give some back in our work. With a strong connection to the quality and beauty of our planet we focus on using responsible materials and products as we go along.
There are many reasons for vinyl’s resilience over the years. One is the album artwork itself. In the best cases, the artwork is the musician’s final touch on what they have just poured their entire life into. These efforts don’t always get their due representation digitally or in a flat compact disc format. With vinyl; matte finishes, extensive gatefolds, photography, lyrics, linear notes, posters and other printed creativity give the fans a more authentic experience. Deweywood was founded to be the best option to display your favorite albums and we are just getting started.
