Long Island FEMA Support

So, LIPA (Long Island Power Authority) is awaiting payment from FEMA to support it's ongoing recovery from Sandy. The catch? It's payments from Irene that happened 14 months ago.

So can someone please remind me how Obama has handled these disasters in the Northeast better than Bush in NOLA?

Media bias much?

Obama hasn't even recognized Long Island and he's sending his lackeys to Staten Island. I guess it's ok because we aren't poor....

Definitely. It's a disgrace how this has been handled. Quick stop in NJ and back to business as usual.

Nothing would please you. Nothing. My family members in LI were well taken care of after Irene. Now that some of them have had their houses destroyed for the second time, they will be getting assistance from FEMA and their insurance companies. I have extended family in State Island......the damage is far worse. Some lost their houses. What would it take to get this borough back to something resembling normalcy? To you, someone who, judging by your posts, despises big government/government agencies and who has a libertarian bent, it seems that any action taken by the President during and after the storm would be a failure. You hate the guy, we get it.

Thank you. Exactly. Could not have said it better myself. Same could be said for Bush.

Please stop the bashing. People are suffering, people have died, people have lost their homes, etc and are trying to cope with the storm's aftermath. Please have some compassion for those affected by the storm.

    Thank you.

No offense intended, Edson, but I agree. Let's take care of the business at hand first and then we can start bashing the politicians and engaging in the endless arguments about whether or not global warming had something to do with this.

How are things in your neighborhood, Edson? Hope you're doing OK out there.

Still no power, but we'll live. Folks much worse off. Thanks.

And, no offense, but I think you and stuck missed the point. This thread is actually the opposite of what it appears at first.

I guess I'm not seeing what you're getting at. But in any case, I'm glad you're ok. No power for over a week is no fun. Hang in there.

To tell you the truth, no power would be fine if the heat worked (how stupid is that?). It's nice to play board games with the kids, read, etc. If it wasn't cold it would be fine. Though I now know why outhouses don't have magazine racks...

I feel for you and your family as you go through this, and my heart is broken over Breezy Point. But, I'm not sure what you think is being missed in the first and/or fifth post. :?:

dude is saying his point is that the way bush reacted to katrina is comparable to obama and sandy and the consequences are similar ... he is not very effective at making that point nor do i feel that it is a genuine position considering his original post ... i suspect he went that route after getting some backlash but i will give him the benefit of the doubt ... at which i would disagree that the response has been the same ...

Thank you. Not quite. The point was exactly what whygo said - anyone who hates whoever is going to hate whatever they do. Both Presidents are fairly helpless when it comes to this stuff. It didn't matter what either did. Many of your hatred for Bush is as misguided as some folks hatred for everything Obama does.

It was not a change of course. I have no fear of backlash. I don't even know who 98% of you are, so why would I care (and why would you)?

I knew I could count on someone here doing what whygo said, and vegas had him as the odds on favorite. So, they were pleased with the outcome as well.

dude appointed a crony to run fema who had no business leading it ... i would say that bush was directly responsible for that ...
