oh, and obviously not in that order. great show...hard to put it all in there, but sean penn and john cusack both were on stage in white jackets "part of the experiment" at the end during "hard sun."

oh...one song not on there but played -- "let my love open the door" -- a-fucking-mazing!

fyi -- eddie posters sold out (not the ones he designed, but the blue solo picture of him.)

    I'm one

    and

Brain Damage (pink floyd), but it was quickly aborted cause people were screaming too much. What a shame. That would have been incredible.

Pretty darn cool to see Sean Penn, John Cusack, Kerry Wood and Chris Chelios (with the Stanley Cup in hand!) in the audience.
There's a request- "C'mon, just sing." If you say please, maybe. You make me feel cheap.

Bob Howry, Jason Marquis and Mark DeRosa were also there.

hah no... but after reading that thread I think I saw the guy who had the mookie jersey on at Chicago 1.

He didn't have it on tonight... but as I was waiting in the long line for the pisser at the end of the show.... a guy with these shit locks stumbled past everyone... and cut everyone in line. Acting like no one was waiting in line. Some people yelled... but he didn't give a shit.

atleast this guy made it to the bathroom!

I'd like to take full credit for bringing "Shit Locks" back to regular conversation!

Thankfully I didn't see either of those two Creed Worshipers last night.

I feel sorry for whoever had to sit behind the Stanley Cup. Not the most forward-looking idea for a trophy...someday it will be too big to carry around.

They actually cut older "rings" off to make room for new teams to be added.. The older pieces are flattened and housed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.. Pretty cool to actually see.. Otherwise, like you said, the cup would be like 10 feet tall or something..

Never knew that, thanks. But aren't the oldest rings the small ones on top? Do they loop around then, with new teams going at whatever level the removed teams were at, instead of always at the bottom?

Edit: also, I saw on another thread that Chelios was in a box, so the cup wasn't too much in the way. Seriously, if it were on his lap, that would be a huge pain to sit near. And if he were holding it in the air the whole time.... :-)

I don't agree. It was aborted because it would've been too difficult vocally.

How do I know this? I don't. Just as YOU don't know why he aborted it, either. :)

The rings on top are the oldest ones currently on the cup, but are not the original ones. The cup has gone through many designs, and the original pieces including the original silver bowl (very top ) are housed at the HOF. The cup that is awarded now is an "authenticated cup" It is not the original, but is treated as the authentic trophy. After its re-design, the only portions of the cup removed now are the larger rings (which each hold up to 13 teams). The new winner of the cup gets their team name, players, and management on the large bottom ring.. When the large bottom ring is full, the closest one to the top, that is of the same size, is removed and another "empty" ring is added to the bottom for another 13 teams to engrave..

On a side note, the Hockey HOF is housed in the old Bank of Montreal in Toronto.. They choose to leave the original bank vault intact, and have the original silver cup and pieces displayed inside the vault for public viewing.. Really cool place to see if you're ever in Toronto.. Hockey fan or not..

Thanks for laying down the knowledge AET. I went to a lot of Islander games when I was young and I loved them. My favorite was the sound of a puck hitting the post with a huge ping.

Makes sense not to let them drink beer out of the original cup anymore.

The cup was in a private box on the side. No one sat behind the cup...it was behind cusack actually (who was sittin in the same box as chelios).

Cusack that loser is such a hanger-on. He has not been relevant since "Better Off Dead."

He is such a Cub fan he tried to see the White Sox in the World Series and got denied tickets......LOL...in Chicago.

I heard he's a Red Wing fan now too since Chelios went against his word and forced a trade to Detroit! Screw both of them!

John Cusack don't listen to this guy! I loved you when I was 13 and I love you still. ;)

But I'm sayin...Vedder + Penn + Cusack on one stage? Singing Hard Sun? Too hot to handle. Too cold to hold. Good for me I wasn't there or I might have passed out like those silly girls from the Beatles videos in the 60's. ;)

Where were you on that other thread?! Someone posted that Eddie = 2 hot 2 handle according to yahoo, and I posted that he was 2 cold 2 hold, and I got accused of being a Stoney Pony. It was not that great a picture but the point was the lyrics!

I'm still a Kim Thayil girl anyway. (Kim Thayil circa 1994...gray beards need to be trimmed short if you want to stay hot.)

Cusack was never on stage, at least not during Hard Sun. It was Liam, EJ and Sean Penn with Eddie.

    Great show nonetheless.

I couldn't stop laughing when the girl jumped the stage and said "let my love open the door but just stay 15 feet away from me!"
