Does Ed make similar comments about other cities like this?

There have been several incendeces in live shows over the years, including a couple from last night, where Mr. Vedder expresses a negative opinion of Las Vegas, while he is actually in Las Vegas addressing a crowd with a large number of Las Vegans in it.
Is anyone aware of other instances where he is ragging on the city he is in? Or is it just Vegas?

2. You live in the cheesiest city in the country.
End of story.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good cheesy... but you can walk through the casinos and can see pretty much everything that's wrong with America.
And I think Ed does this in other cities as well. Don't feel too bad about it.

I guess most people go Vegas for the bright lights, casinos and wedding chapels though.

So you have two posts to your name, both mentioning how hurt you feel over the Vegas jokes at the show. I don't know what was said, but people, toughen up a little bit.
My sister lives in Vegas so I have visited many times, been to Red Rock, and seen other parts of the city... Spoiler alert, it is suburban sprawl and strip malls just like any other big city in America. 95% of tourists head straight for the strip or downtown and that's all they see, and if I had to guess, that's probably all Eddie has experienced too. There are lots of great restaurants, shows, and even some culture, but it's still VEGAS. It's not a bad thing. But you do still hive people passing out flyers for escorts everywhere you walk on the strip, billboards with naked women on them, and more money being wasted in ungodly amounts than probably anywhere else on earth...

As for the rest of you Vegas haters...
Your just jealous because in addition to the 10th anniversary show we've now added the greatest Ed solo show of all times to our repertoire. Suck on that, Albuquerque.

We probably deserve it. I won't take it personally. I bet we get to hear about Sheriff Joe and our lovely governor.

Surely you jest......well maybe if you don't count EV having the crowd sing happy birthday with him to his grandma (while he filmed it) at the Wiltern in '08...or him singing Forever Young directly to his mom in the audience on her birthday (while he played the guitar that she pawned her wedding ring to buy him) at Spreckels '08.....or Hawaii Theater '09...and then, there was Santa Barbara '11..... :nono:

I think it's safe to say most stories having to to with Gila Bend somehow resemble that movie...

Vegas rivals anywhere for culinary. Restaurants from basically every top chef in the world. Our shopping is also on par with LA and NY. Entertainment wise we get most every major tour, plus Broadway and Cirque shows, headliners and the things unique to Vegas. Within a few hours you have an unbelievable amount of outdoor activities (Grand Canyon, Red Rock, Mt Charleston, Zion and Bryce Canyon and close to So Cal). And other than a few hot months in the summer, you cant beat our mild weather. And as others have said once you are away from the Strip, you have regular communities just like everywhere else. But most people never bother to leave the Strip and after a few days of it, I understand why some loathe it, especially if you took a beating at the tables.
What we lack is culture/arts though it is improving slowly with the addition of the Smith Center. We also lack a sense of community because its such a transient city. We also lack pro sports which limits our identity to only tourism/gambling.
I have lived here for 6 years+ and love it. I grew up in Seattle, spent 12 years in Memphis and 4 in LA. Vegas gets a bad rap sometimes, but we still have 44 million visitors a year.
There are a million places here that we all go to which aren't on the tourist trail which for me makes it the best city in the world. I am biased of course

Well put my friend. I wanted to respond and compose something similar, but was too tired to expend the energy. This place is a wonderful, unique, American city. The beauty of this valley and the warm weather and sunshine are phenomenal. I love my hometown of Cleveland, and my home state of Ohio very much, but this place is so gorgeous throughout the year with its surrounding mountains. I get to see mountains sunrises/sunsets, moonrises/moonsets all the time that I never got to see in constantly gray and cloudy Cleveland. And the stars too! Even with the light pollution from the Strip, I can still sit out in my backyard in my neighborhood and catch the 3 best meteor showers of the year with ease. Plus, no bugs! No fleas, gnats, mosquitoes, and very limited flies! If you gamble and lose, well you're a big boy, you know what you did. If you come looking for lewdness, then that's one you. So, yes, there are many sinful things that go down here in Sin City. But, when you have over 2 million people, you're going to get all sorts of souls good and bad. Now on Ed's comment. It wasn't too bad. I re-heard it the other night. He mumble-bumbled classic Eddie style in jabbering for multiple seconds before spitting out the point that he wasn't lucky growing up. So I could accept that. He made it that he didn't think he'd like the place because if he were to gamble, he was never a lucky person. Really, if you listen to exactly what he actually said, that was it. He then immediately thanked the kind people he'd met here. So, it didn't really bother me none. It's like when somebody comes to any city and tries to bag on it for being dirty. I mean, really. Where are you going to go to a place with over 2 million people and see all areas with zero trash and zero dirtiness? Not gonna happen. So, OP, don't let Ed's little quote bother you.
