After last night...it has to be Black. The anticipation after the ladies offer, then figuring it wasn't gonna happen as Ed sang 5 more songs. But when he asked Boom to come back out, my heart lodged in my throat and I had to stand in disbelief...THIS IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN!!!
From the beginning when all was wrong between Ed and Boom, to the sing along " we belong together" to Ed's obvious reaction and appreciation...UNFORGETTABLE. I will never hear Black the same way again.

this is very tough.....so many songs reflect different eras...immortality...rvm...in hiding...present tense..
but one song totally gets me.its the song that makes me chose between two different bootlegs to buy....its Black. I find myself preferring live versions...for McCready's solos...Ed's tags....the entire song is a journey when you hear it live....
Immortality has held my top spot for quite a while, but Present Tense has really done it for me lately.
That said...I think overplaying has slightly lessened the value of some songs to me. However, if you take ALL PJ songs EVER and listen to them LIKE IT IS THE VERY FIRST TIME....it is hard for me not to say ALIVE is their best ever.

I'm such a junkie for a solid and interesting rhythm section, and this song hits it like none other. The bumping and resounding drums by Jack all over the place...a strong bass lead..and to top it off, some of my favorite Ed lyrics that really resonate with me...yeah. Yeah.
