    That's great! I've never really played in a public setting, so I can only imagine what it's like.

    :clap::clap::clap: Nice work sir !!
    Sometimes I speak of nothing at all.
  • Nice! Originals or covers? Open mics are hard to get a good balance of both in.

  • awesome!

    in my experience open mic nights are a good place to meet and network with other musicians. maybe you can find some cool people to play with.

  • thanks guys! To clarify, I only played the guitar, no singing. The open mic night they do here every Wed has a house band that anyone's welcome to sit in with or play by themselves. I just sat in and we played NY Heart of Gold, and CCR Bad Moon Risin (which actually got the place jumpin). It was real fun, but the harmonica player was improvising a lot and kind of threw me off a couple times. I think I recovered okay though, being my first time.

    Good job, he.who.forgets! That's inspiring- on my bucket list is the desire to get up the nerve to do an open mike.

    Yes, anyone who is even 'thinking' of trying to make a run at getting up on the stage...DO IT. You'll find even if you make mistakes, the musicians around you will appreciate and encourage your effort. Congrats on your first public performance!

    Open mic nights are great, like someone else had mentioned, for the networking. Maybe work up a duet with a more experienced player for your next outting...
    It's amazing what you hear when you take time to listen.
