So sad about this

So a little while ago, I wondered if anyone had got a picture of EV falling into the crowd's arms at the end of Hard Sun during the Toronto night 1 show. I mentioned a short video clip of EV attempting to tell a story and posted the link to which everyone could appreciate why we all love EV (and of course the band).
Some folks expressed how the page would be gone, which made no sense to me. Fucking lawyers, and American paranoia, I thought. Well the thing still exists, but the post doesn't anymore. This makes no sense to me, since the band allows fans to bring non-professional camera's into venues and has long said it was ok to even bring in recording devices.
Now, sure most of us don't do the recording devices anymore because the band has made incredible sounding "bootlegs" available here at tremendously reasonable prices. Still I cannot for the life of me understand the fear of this shaky, wobbly camera video - which doesn't even include any song material and therefore no copyright material - to be removed, and kept from being enjoyed.
It is very, very sad, and only hope those who wish to seek it out can still find it. Maybe I just don't understand, but I doubt I ever will even if Kat or Sea or any poster on this board tried to explain it.
I wish you all well, and hope you can find these things. Its not like we get to see EV or PJ ever covered on the news or E-News, or even played on the radio anymore. Let us have our own little network of stories and smiles.
Much peace, love, and happiness.

You weren't supposed to record stuff from the show.
indeed correct. PJ Sparks' initial post made mention of the Facebook group with said link, to which Kat replied with a request for the link which PJ Sparks happily supplied with a "i can't say No to you, Kat" reply.

C'mon everyone, lighten up and take a joke...we've all done something/posted something that's common of a "newbie", hell, we all started out with 0 posts...
but its fair to have a laugh every now and then isnt it?
I can just picture Kat reading it
You can all go back to complaining about the seats you got from the Fan Club; how you wish the band played this song or that. You spoiled, short sighted fucks.
The PJ camp makes the usually most logical and proper decisions that 99.5-times-out-of-100 have the best interest of the fans in mind. I tend to disagree with this one, and you all think I should've known better rather than what makes solid fucking sense - that the fight is pointless and counter-productive. But fine. Hate the guy WHO-> wouldn't imagine that they might behave the way Hanna Montana's camp would. Frankly, I feel back-stabbed in many ways.
Maybe they'll spank me and give me rotten tickets, if any. I would hope not, but if so, I've had a long and enjoyable go of it. It wasn't the intent to upset the VHC or any of you, but I don't need to justify anything with any of you. It was intended with nothing but love for anyone WHO-> might not have been lucky enough to see the show. Terrible me. Like Kat isn't a fan and might want to see it too?
I can live with myself and my motivations. All I ask is that you start thinking for yourselves.
Its all good, we are all individuals here and were new once too...I myself have made really whacked out and dumbass posts/threads before....
You're not a bad person okay
We just thought it was funny....
Dont take it too seriously mate....
I've been around a lot longer than most of you, and I have never complained about this band. We are all so very spoiled by this band and their varying playlists, touring schedules, output in the varying mediums, and the incredible attempts to right what has gone wrong with the music industry.
And if you think I'm wrong, check most any other band's setlists and see how much theirs changes. See who puts out as much various stuff as interesting as PJ does. But yet most of you "Super Fans" bitch and whine about your seats - ie. you poor Grand Rapids '06 people. Why won't you play this or that more. Wah Wah, bitch, moan and whine.
I may have gotten burned, but for all the right reasons. And I can rest at night for trying to help spread the Jam. I can take your crap.
I see that you have over 100 posts, but look at when you joined up...??
Now look at mine.....
And FYI ive never gotten 10C seats and therefore never whine...I sat up the back of the stadium and loved it.
I wouldnt care if I was 2 kms away fromt he stage, all that matters is that I was there....
Please dont start a stream of abuse....it doesnt get you anywhere...
stop bitching
post counts mean nothing
10c number means nothing
we are all fans, respect each other
I wave to all my Friends... Yeah!
Or do you only buy one, once someones bought one for you
Im in the 10c too, but as yet havent had the opp to get a show...even though last show I got 20 rows back without membership, which is a huge feat considering the stadium fit over 22,000 fans there

i'm confused,...you've gone from questioning why your previous thread was deleted and blaming the Mods/10C/PJ to now attacking those "who complain about 10C tickets", which as far as i can tell wasn't done in this thread and has nothing to do with your original post.
to say you've "been around a lot longer than most of you, and I have never complained about this band" is admirable but it doesn't negate starting a thread complaining/questioning eV's position on the original policy he set in place prior to the tour ensuring no audio/video/images from his solo shows would be made available, on this board anyway.
you're not the 1st to question this policy, you won't be the last. we, by which i mean all PJ fans, are in a position of privilege: we are able to enjoy music afforded to us by great musicians. appreciating their art, to then question how that art is shared only harms the relationship between artist and fan, in my humble opinion.

I don't recall apologizing for anything. I might have been naive in thinking there was something seriously threatening to EV or the band, but I was not apologizing.
I really feel I am a model fan of this band - liberal, free thinking fan who takes into consideration all those around me, not only at a show, but in my everyday life. But then I'm sure we all feel like we're a model fan.
Then again, I had my car pissed on by some idiots in Buffalo '03 because I had Canadian plates, and Canada didn't join the war on Iraq. But I'll keep taking the punches if these people are fans. Some of our fellow fans are frat boy jack asses. I am not. If you met me, we would share drinks and laughs, and probably email addys and phone numbers.
As someone else mentioned, this is about spreading the love, and that was part of the point of the initial post even way back before questions of joining the message pit, number of posts, or age came into question.
I did what I did out of love, but feel like I have had to defend pot use to the US DEA here. That's a battle I can't win. So again, I will say what my original post here, said at the end.
Much peace, love, and happiness. To all.
If facebook still required a university email address to join, this would have been protected. Le sigh.
PJ Sparks - the only point people here are trying to make is that this isn't a personal attack on you. The MODS take this stuff seriously, and they're just doing the job they've been asked to do. No one is accusing you of doing something intentionally harmful, but instead we are trying to explain that while there are things all of us want to see/hear, sometimes we just need to learn how to live with the "want." We can't have EVERYTHING. Although, I'd say we've come pretty damn close to getting it!
Sounds like PJ Sparks thought Kat just wanted to see it, and didn't know she was planning to kill it, so I don't think PJ Sparks did it on purpose. Kat asked for it all casually didn't she? I think I thought I seen her on 8th and forty-deuce.

All you people trying to trade secret tapes need to be a little more Ad-Rock and a little less MCA.

EDIT: Ohhhhhh my god this link is way better. It has the stuff that was on the tape before the video I linked above. Check out the dude with the red mullet and the headband. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGXi2Y8zMWE&NR=1
We are TOTAL losers
Solat, you an idiot. I wasn't bringing anything like # of posts, or crap until posts from you and a few others started getting going about how I should've known better. Who cares if someone has the rarest thing item, like an autographed ass-hair or anything.
And anyone getting confused isn't reading this entire thing. There seems to be a few who got what I was going for - that Kat asked for all casual and I got fooled. Why because I can't imagine the possible threat of something like a fucking fan page with a jumping cell phone video.
So I bad mouthed some posters (I not just looking your way Solat) after it was said I was an idiot for not being aware that it was a threat. Then I compared trying to convince my naive intentions were for good, and it was pointless to try to kill fan groups to the pointless DEA fight against pot, and you didn't get it. There's no convincing the narrow minded DEA, and apparently there is no getting thru to some high and mighty fans who can't imagine a fan (unless he's 14 apparently) would be so daft.
This is a Pearl Jam page, not Metallica.
I'm very surprised that more people here don't also think its pointless to fight against the fans who are putting together such an sloppy little product. Like, you don't dare go against what the moderator says.
My PJ is the one talked about, out in, what St John's, where the girl was at the grocery store or whatever and a member of the crew got her tix because her boyfriend (now ex boyfriend) took another girl. Then brought her on stage. Not this. So that's why I find it hard to believe.
I am no bigger, better, more into or less into this band than anyone here. Its music, albeit something that moves us all in a very profound way. So have your laugh solat or whoever. Be a smart-ass to the cats you work with, not someone you don't know. But I wish you well even if you can't see that I meant well.
As the amazing My Morning Jacket sings "It ain't evil if you ain't hurtin' anybody". That was the WHOLE point at the beginning.
you weren't fooled, and you aren't a threat. you (clearly) weren't aware of the standing eV tour policy RE: No audio, NO video, No pictures taken at each solo show.
was it harsh for someone to call you an "idiot"? perhaps. was it harsh to label your quest to "spread the jam" as a "non-threat" by spitting in the face of the current eV tour policy, as stated above, and call into question its' merit? perhaps. it's not for you to decide what should be considered a "threat". when you signed up to be a member of this message board you had the choice to either accept or decline the posting guidelines.
every example you've brought up in an attempt to relate back to your original position (i.e. DEA) has done just the opposite. what's INTERESTING is that you take out your frustration on your fellow fans, who in fact had NOTHING to do with said eV tour policy.
SOME fans have argued in an intelligent and articulate manner either for/against the eV tour policy prohibiting any recording devices and cameras; however, MOST fans have extended eV, as well as this board's moderators, respect by not taking an attitude of entitlement towards bootleging the eV shows and taking photos at said shows. given that you're now aware of the long-standing (since April) policy, you can either choose to respect it or you can choose to post elsewhere. bitching about it is just beating a dead horse.
PJ and eV shows are not one and the same. eV asked that fans respect his wishes. MOST did and extended him the same respect he extends his fans night in and night out. you don't "own" PJ, you don't "own" eV,...i suspect if you approached eV with the same attitude and entrenched position you've taken in this thread he'd respect your opinion as a fan of music, but he'll also likely tell you that you can either accept what he's asked of his audience or you can choose to remove yourself from said audience.
p.s. Solat, i not just looking your way, but you an idiot

I wasn't trying to make anyone look foolish or feel foolish or anything like that. The original poster is endeared to me because he was generous and giving. He didn't know it was a mistake to share Ed's solo show stuff. Many have not been aware of that because the PJ shows are somewhat different...although vids have never been okayed. I wish they were...I'm sorry they aren't.
I'm not thrilled with the people calling names on this thread though. *Please* stop doing that and let it go and make this topic history. There's so much better to talk about.
Love to all,
Kat
