I live 30 minutes north of the NY City and it barely rained here and we barely got any wind. We consider ourselves extremely lucky compared to what we've seen and heard from friends and on the news. I hope everyone is safe!

Unfortunately some of the other towns in the area weren't so lucky. And forget anywhere on the water - they got slammed. Lots without power. So far 16 dead, including some kids. Hopefully that number doesn't go up.

We live just north of Philly, West of the Jersey Shore, and while the Shore got hit hard  and NYC is flooded, our area was relatively spared by Sandy. It was predicted to hit us pretty hard, and while we got some wicked wind, and some rain, so far I've seen no major flooding around here. Locally, there are some trees down, some streets closed, and some damage to porches, fences, etc. Mostly from falling trees. No power outage here where we are ... thank goodness we had smooth sailing.... relatively speaking.

Then again, Ross lives only a half an hour from me near Quakertown, to the East, and his place is a shambles, trees down, wires and poles down, roads impassable, no power in their entire area, and I hear that Allentown is the same. In the dark. Hope all are safe.

Winds are still forecast to gust over 50 mph today.

My heart goes out to my friends in NYC, North Jersey and the Shore. :( Many areas there have been completely devastated. Its crazy what a couple dozen miles difference can make.

I have to add that Trampolines do not fare well in hurricanes.

Are you in westchester? I am and we got plenty of wind last night lots of trees down and large branches all over the place. But I agree, we are better off than most.
