do not contact list for campaigns

The thought has struck me that we should be able to opt out of having contact in any form from political parties and associated organizations. Since we have a no call list, I havent been harrassed by voice.

Have been inundated with campaign lit simply because I choose to excercise my right to vote. Because I do that, my address is public record for use by anyone who wishes to petition a given county or state for voter rolls.

In the same spirit of freedom of expression, I should have the right to not be bothered in the first place by "speech" I would tune out anyway. Why must my mailbox be stuffed with shit that winds up in the recycling bin as soon as I can get it from the box into the house?

For the last 3 days I've received campaign pamphlets for Romney/Ryan ticket here in FL. I've received 1 from the other side....all they end up doing is build up my recyclables. No more land lines so we won't be getting any calls thankfully.

Since we got rid of our landline, we haven't received any kind of solicitation on our cells, political or otherwise...thank goodness. Not just for that outcome either - what a good decision!

Last election, it was a barrage of robo-calls.

But, we too have received a shitload of paper ads...and I get how it may cost less than TV spots, but sheesh! I don't need daily reminders from these folks who are running.

    I know!

I knew after the first twenty times I received their literature.

check this dude... i get mailings crammed into my little p.o. box at the post office from a state over 2000 foriles away & i no longer live in said state & haven't resided in western washington for going on two years now; yet they send me (now living back here in my state of birth... iowa) political adds from Olympia, Washington as well as i am still picked for jury duty in the beautiful state of Washington. :?

i do not follow Olympia, Washington politics or politicians. i cannot believe they still forward me trash mail almost 2 years in the making & over 2000 miles to the east

but i learned about a dude running for senator of iowa by way of a phone call just yesterday. this dude will more than likely get my vote as he seems to be a good guy who is not a career politician and is from a background of hard working iowans.

if it were not for this phone call & farely lengthy conversation i would not know much about him other than what i am learning through internet research

I think you need to change your address on your voter registration, then they will stop bothering you.

I agree mickey...I just got a call from 702-979-1864...I did not answer and googled the number, it's a survey company that wants to know my opinion about the election. Thought my vote was supposed to be a private matter...

hate those stupid mailers too...the party I usually vote for has only sent me 2 ads, the other party has sent me over 10 flyers :x

i keep getting calls from the romney campaign. several times a week. as if i have ever donated to the gop... it's like if i never have in the past, why would i start today? and after i say no to each call, why do you keep asking me?

and for the record, my response to the DCCC was the same...

Yeah, they both send me stuff constantly like I was best friends with both sides. Ridiculous.

I lived on the Olympic Peninsula for about 4 years in the early 90's. I still visit up there. Greenery is beautiful there- every kind of greenery!

Speaking of greenery- the kind that grows straight and strong- I wonder how much this election is costing in terms of trees? Too much!

Exactly! We as the citizens should demand an end to this utter ridiculousness. It's an outright tragedy.
