Don't think I've ever seen a thread on this great band.
Been many years since I listened to them, got their songs playing now.
Takes me back to my teens/early 20's, was obsessed on them.
Johnny Ramone is why I picked up a guitar.
Any fans?
Favourite albums/songs?

Album, Leave home for me.
Songs....hmmm too hard to decide.

They used to frequent my hometown often.

There was once a nightclub here called Rockaways they played often .
There is a story about how they blew the primitive sound system off the walls there.

Fav song- for obvious reasons- Rockaway Beach

I grew up on Long island in the late 70's/80's...
Every kid I knew had a vinyl copy of "It's Alive" and then had it on cassette. To this day, my go to playlist on my iPod...(could never find it on 8 track)
Bathgate66 --> "Rockaway Beach" as the opener on "It's Alive" is one of my all time favorite Ramone performances EVER...
As I grew older, and moved to NorCal, less and less people appreciated the Ramones in my circles of friends, teammates, schoolmates etc... I was always looked at as the weirdo for defending the Ramones...in fact, I saw them in Berkeley in 1990 SOLO cause nobody wanted to go  (Great show by the way!!!)
Love'em to this day!!! Saw them at Toads Place in CT later on towards the end, still rocked, but you just knew that the end was coming...
My 11 yr old daughter is PISSED at Cee-Loo for massacring "Blitzkrieg Bop" (she digs the Ramones because I overplay Ramones in the car on CD)...(she loves the tune)
Great under-rated band. Reason I love punk music to this day. Long live the Ramones!!!
    "Gimme gimme shock treatment!"
If you haven't seen "End of the Century" do so asap...friggin great!

The Ramones are just so damn cool! I should listen to them much more often than I currently do. Always found it super neat that my dad used to see them all the time cuz he would frequent the same bar that they did in the '70s in NYC, Nobody's.

  • Here in my city a lot of people where Ramones tshirts and they don't even know they are a band.
A lot of stores are selling their tshirts, quite sad really.

  • They went to my high school about 10 years before me... Funniest thing I ever saw was them on Regis ragging on the Assistant Principal

I met the 6 members of The Ramones back at a Tower Records In Store in NYC for there farewell tour box set (VHS & CD). They signed a Vinyl 12 inch single of Pet Sematary, 2 copies of the box set, and I got a baseball signed by all 6 members.

Johnny Ramone who was a big baseball memorabilia collector, spoke with me for a few minutes when he was signing the baseball. He was a real nice down to earth guy.

I only saw them live once at Lollapalooza 96. Of course that was real late in there careers. I wish I could have gone to one of those old school shows at CBGBs back in the 70s in there hey day.

  • what was the deal with the show that Ed played with Tim Armstrong and some of the other Ramones in Hollywood back in 2004? I saw a youtube clip of EV saying he hated it, but not sure why.
