Racism? Who knows. A punk kid who probably doesn't have much of a role model on either side of the aisle at home? For sure. A punk kid who deserves a substantial ass-whooping now? Yep.

Did you watch it to the end? I agree, the first 20 seconds looked like a clip out of a subpar gang-themed broadway musical. I kinda expected everyone to face off and start snapping in rhythm at each other. But the punch and the way the guy with the briefcase goes limp looks pretty real.

Agreed. Looks like that poor guy, just minding his own business, went down hard.

(had to laugh at the West Side Story reference!)

Stirring the pot Godfather? You're usually the first to get in a huff when someone claims racism.
Just messing with ya...Unless I missed some related text to the story, I dont see how you can conclude that.
If it was real, it was a kid being a cowardly ass to show off for his friends.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

I wouldn't call it racism, but it will definitely foster racial prejudice in the other direction.

:D yeaaaaaa...stirring the pot a little, according to tradional train rules if a white guy smacked a black teacher it would have been racism ( like zimmerman or Rodney King)...just say'n

Ya know, GF...for all I know it could've been racism - but I can't assume it.

It's kind of like people who falsely cry sexual harassment or some other wolf, and take away from those who have a bona fide beef.

    Sometimes people are just assholes.

That said, I hope the little shit learns a lesson in this and is suitably punished by the law and his (hopefully caring and concerned) parents.

It's definitely real, the kid's parents watched it on the local news and turned him in. It happened in downtown Pittsburgh, and the reason he gave for punching the teacher was because he was "having a bad day".

I would like to think this was a case of an angry thug that did this but really nonsense likes this is happening more and more often. However, the general public never hears anything about it because schools like to keep it quiet. We had a similar incident (not quite as violent) happen at my school last week - no thugs here, at all - and the administration did nothing about it. Sad to say, we (the collective societal we) seem unwilling to discipline our kids, not at home and not at school. Where are the consequences for sexually harassing teachers? Or pushing them down in the hallway? Or just acting like an asshole? What are we afraid of when it comes to disciplining our children?
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

I think the fear is not being their child's "friend".

Stories like this make me thankful my parents' priority was...being a parent.

Precisely. And yes, I am grateful that my parents were parents. I don't think these parents understand that they are handicapping their children. If only, I could be straight with them :(
