Mitt Romney opened up his biggest lead yet in a national Gallup survey, with the latest results showing the Republican nominee up 6 points over President Obama -- with less than three weeks and just one debate left on the calendar before Election Day.

The Gallup survey, which is based on a seven-day rolling average, showed Romney leading 51-45 percent. At the start of October, he was tied with Obama at 48 percent each.

For gods sake, please show the real truth here - be slightly objective...
If you are going to make a thread stating "Romney ahead by 6 pts. batten down the hatches..." have at least the wisdom to include some other additional polls then FOX NEWS.

Listed below is a link to the updated poll as of this afternoon. The lead has increased. The 'popular vote' polling is a good indicator of how the electoral college will shape up. The race is now on in states like Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Might we see an 'October surprise' from the Obama administration? Who's up for a little military drone action in North Africa? :corn:

538 is the best place to follow for polls. There isn't a close second.

Here's the latest Real Clear Politics average. Romney has taken the electoral college lead for the first time in the Real Clear average. (The Dems have a slight advantage to control the Senate with the Repubs a lead in the House of Reps.)

Rasmussen was the most accurate poll in 2008 in predicting the closest outcome. They pretty much nailed the differential between McCain and Obama. Obama is currently polling 47% in Rasmussen with the undecided vote to be determined.

I will choose to believe (hope) in these polls. I'm not really pro Obama, more anti Romney. Fingers crossed.

note, i copied and pasted from my post on another/similar thread, too lazy to reiterate.

not overly worried about gallup poll, do a lil research and see how gallups' natl polls shit the bed in 2008. guess what, gallup does not poll young people, i.e. college students, recent college grads. obama owns this base, and he will own this base in 2012.

ya know why this base is not in ANY poll? cell phones, and multiple addresses, they are not seen or heard by pollsters but their gonna vote their ass off again this year.

wtf you think obama won Indiana in 2008? that state is RED, but guess what, it has Purdue, U of IN, and mighty Notre Dame to pull from.

you think Obama is just targeting campuses for the last month for no good reason?

my hunch is this; IF obama gets the same or better turnout from swing state young americans, he wins this in the 290-300 electoral vote range.

    just my 2 cents

He was prochoice and then he wanted to be elected as a conservative so he became prolife.. And then he got the nomination and decided to go center on the issue..

    Whatever it takes, right Mitt?

If I were conservative, I would write in Ron Paul.

I would vote for Paul, not because I agree on every issue, but because I know I could trust WHERE HE STANDS.. And give his ideology a chance and see how it plays out.

  • While I realize that threads like this are just desperate attempts at riling up the members here, it seems not a bad time to post these Nate Silver graphics.

While they were pointed to with Glee a few days ago, suddenly people on the right are putting all their stock in a single poll from Gallup that pretty much everyone says is questionable. While I have said all along that polls are seldom 100% accurate because of countless factors, Nate Silver is pretty much the most respected poll aggregator who has been able to parse data and extrapolate the meaning from it.

And these are what he posted today. It should be noted that he hasn't included any polls taken after the second debate.

Nate Silver "pretty much the most respected poll aggregator"? Says who? The NYT? MSNBC?

Gallup has a really strong track record for correctly picking the winner of the race with their final polls. Obama could be ahead in Gallup two weeks from now and I bet the libs would be dancing in the streets.

I forget now- is this Romney/Obama thread #10 or #11?

Polls- there all over the place. In any case, for heavens sake, don't vote based on some dumb poll.
