First timeEV: intorduces himself by name!

Listening to Hartford 08 boot and noticed Ed introduces the band members and then himself....by NAME
(check out Encore break # 2 before "Smile")...

I can't remember him EVER doing that in a Pearl Jam concert. Am I wrong?

here's the exact quote:

"I 'm Eddie Vedder and you are Hartford Conneticut.."
"This here's a REQUEST!"

    Wow!! Simply amazing. That show has just been officially elevated to best show ever. Maybe of any band all time.

    I remember him introducing himself in 98 I think it was in 98 making some sort of crack like "I'm Eddie Vedder I feel better"? :)

    Define by name... I know Toronto October 5/00 he introduced the band at the end, and then said "Ed Ved." Does that count? ;)

    at philly 05 it happened one of two ways...

    ed introduces band then says, and im eddie...


    or he introduces whole band then i think jeff steps up to mic and says and thats eddie vedder

    I don't know if I should be impressed or frightened that off the top of your head, you know which shows (from 10 years ago) Ed mentioned his name. That's insane.

    It was the holy grail for me. It has been replaced because Ed said his name Hartford.

    I like it when Ed tells Stone to "Go back to Bass" when he F's up on the solo in Do the Evolution, because he played bass in Smile.

    Both were kick ass shows! ......and it was more of him doing the joke with his name and then hearing that later on with the boots that it sank in. Still remember Eddie going on when Mike walked in front of him on stage that Seattle show and Eddie going that was jusT Mike Mother Fuckin McCready who walked across my stage!!! :)

    Yup, I thought it was Matt after Eddie mentioned him, but it may have been Jeff. Either way, someone said Eddie Vedder, and he said "that's me", after RITFW and before "Mike McCready wants to say goodbye to ya".

    doesn't he sometimes refer to himself in 3rd person? like, he introduces everyone and is all "on drums, matt cameron! and on vocals, ed vedder!" or some shit?

    I am too. it was by far the best concert I have ever been to. I never get sick of listening to that boot. I don't think people on here (other than the ones who attended) really appreciate it. The vibe was electric, from the crowd and from the boys.

    I look forward to when Pearl Jam tour Australia again next year (fingers crossed.)

    Cleveland 06 during porch, he introduces the band and then says "ladies and gentleman my name is eddie" "now let me introduce you to yourself." light shines down on him and he puts his guitar over his head and deflects the light into the crowd.
