what did these politions do before the inter-web ? I'm feed up to my short and curleys with these money hungry dirt bags trying suck every penny they can from the American public...then after this they'll tax us more and put us deeper in debt.

here's a e-mail from Clinton's/Obama's camp.

Godfather.

No matter how much you support President Obama, no matter how much you support the smart policies he's proposing, keep this in mind:

It won't amount to a hill of beans unless you dig deep and help him win this close race.

Chip in $5 or more right now, before the last and most important FEC fundraising deadline of this campaign:

Thanks for stepping up,

Bill Clinton

Money, money, money. The way campaigns are run now, the more money, the better. It's expensive getting air time, exposure, billboards, travelling with the 'posse', PR people, 'paid hands', etc. I remember reading that in more than 70% of presidential campaigns the successful candidate had spent the most money. Goes to show.

Before all this internet, TV, etc. stuff? Good ol' human interaction, hard work from the candidates meeting with the people - face to face, answering their questions, etc. - a lot of footwork. Knocking at doors, getting 'real' support. A whole different state of affairs!

NPR said this morning that Las Vegas was the recipient of the most political ads of any state for the year - 73,000 political ads this year alone! And each candidate has spent almost $300 million in campaign ads. This is ludicrous - you can't win if you're not a millionaire :fp:
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...
