Question- What if he chickened out? What if something went wrong and he couldn't even get out of the capsule? How would they get him down?

My guess is that it was all reviewed as part of the risk assessment but still. Maybe Felix was willing to die up there, I don't know, just some of my thoughts.

That was pretty fuckin' cool though. Nice job Felix. And to answer his twitter question, I was sleeping cuz I work nights.

They were planing to release the balloon holding the capsule and a parachute would be deployed with him still in it.

pretty sure i would have sat on the edge of the platform until the capsule was out of breathable air...or temps became an issue. such a view

Are you serious?? The guy took a ride in a capsule attached to a balloon to the edge of earth and then jumped, freefalling until he got to five thousand feet and then released his parachute and you aren't impressed. come on now. :? It's absolutely amazing to me that someone can skydive let alone go as far as he did. I can't wait for the documentary.

The technology behind a pressurized suit that can offer that type of mobility and withstand that much air drag...it's pretty damn impressive.

not to mention the obvious...this guy travelled faster than the speed of sound without a motored vehicle.

If that don't impress you much...you've been listening to too much Shania Twain.

I once rode a Pegasus to that height and jumped off naked... just didn't think to make such a media circus about it.

ah, snakeduck, naked with the horses again....I can see why you wouldn't want too much attention drawn to that.
