help with buying vinyl

I am new to the world of record players and vinyl. I have about 20 records so far. All purchased from either 10C or a record store in the Detroit area. I am curious if anyone ever buys records online, say from a website like musicdirect.com or similar online music goods supplier. Was looking for Neil Young unplugged and AIC MTV unplugged and this online store has both new. It seems like the online stores have a ton of new records at pretty low costs. What is the reason for this? Is it because they are re-releases vs originals? Or are they digital recordings pressed onto vinyl instead of analog recordings(does that even happen?)? Not as collectible? Any help you can offer is appreciated. Does anyone know of any online articles that would be helpful?

I've been to UHF records in Royal Oak and People's Records in downtown Detroit.
