Real wild 100% huckelberry pie is the holy grail of desserts. Not some huckelberry pie that is also full of other berries as filler material, but the pure thing. I damn near hyperventilate just thinking about it...

That's too bad. However, a lot of the mass produced huckleberry products aren't 100% huckleberry. Plus, most just aren't as sweet as the ones picked in the wild. Jamie and I have succumbed to huckleberry madness many times while in the backcountry; it's a sickness where you forget that you have a heavy pack on and some place to get to and just start following the fruit from one bush to the next until you trip over a bear and are jolted back into reality... sometimes a little lost.

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
