Ahhh yes, where's the intolerance, the bigotry, the prejudice?
Who's heaing all the "dog-whistles?"
Who's heaing all the "dog-whistles?"
Last night Ross Hemminger, Youth Coordinator for the Scott Brown for Senate campain, was heckled by pro-Warren supporters at the Brown-Warren debate. A source at the event told me that the hecklers were union members who were oganized by the Warren campaign for a “stand-out.”
The incident happened when Hemminger started chanting “Go, Scott, go!” on the megaphone. The Warren supporerts chanted back “You sound gay!” A few others chimed in “You take it up the a**!”
Soon after the incident an email from Warren’s campaign manager was forwarded to me. It reads:
Ross,
It has come to my attention that some of our supporters made very inappropriate comments to you outside the Springfield debate hall tonight. On behalf of Elizabeth and our campaign, I am writing to express our deepest apologies. Elizabeth completely denounces this kind of behavior, and we are very sorry it occurred.
Sincerely,
Mindy

lets allow the entire national discourse be derailed while we have an argument over who has more cooties.
What happened? When did bigotry and hate change to freaking cooties?
For every video you can post of Elizabeth Warren supporters* chanting nasty things at Scott Brown I can show you a video of Scott Brown supporters chanting nasty things to Elizabeth Warren. Two weeks ago, they were taunting her with "American Indian" sounds because of her Native American ancestry.
Just like those people making Tomahawk Chops don't represent the opinions of Scott Brown and he shouldn't be held responsible for their actions, Elizabeth Warren shouldn't be blamed for what a few jerks in the crowd shouted at him.
Don't get me started on "hatred and bigotry" because trust me... I can talk from a good deal of personal experience on that topic and I promise you, that's a debate that you will lose. I have no interest in having it... I know where you stand and you know where I do. My point is that... when we start to blame candidates for a few hecklers... we have lost all scope of what politics is about.
(*if they were even Elizabeth Warrern supporters.. you have to admit that it would be rather odd for supporters of the very pro-gay Elizabeth Warren to be gay-baiting Scott Brown, right? Maybe they were just jerks who went to cause trouble and didn't really care about politics at all.)
....yes it does happen.
It actually warms my cold, black heart just a bit that you and I can find at least a tiny toe-hold of common ground.
Oh, my bad, ok, let's go back to your discourse, eh?
I mean... If you would like, I can say that bimbo is indicative of what all female republicans are like. But I'd rather just laugh at individual idiots, if its ok with you.
