Foos blew Petty out of the water this weekend as far as Gorge shows go...I wonder if PJ is just too scared to try and measure up. Perfect weather, 95℉ at 5pm, it was 75° when the show was over at 11:20-ish.
Prove me wrong. Play the Gorge!
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
Foo's to Petty is a hard comparison. In my experience rock music gets heavier and faster as you move through the decades. So comparing a rock band with it's origin's in the 90s to one in the 70s. There's alot more energy in 90s rock as a whole. That and Petty is nearly 20 years older than Grohl. I have to imagine Grohl will age better though. Springsteen puts them all to shame when it comes to aging well and bringing it for live shows. I can't argue though I like Foo Fighter's show a lot more than Petty shows.
I don't think PJ is too scared to play the gorge. I think there's two things:
1) PJ only likes to tour to a point. There's a reason their tours and small and spaced out apart.
2) Foo Fighters love to tour, Dave's an attention whore, and he likes being famous. He embraces being a rock star... it's very anti PJ Thus we see him do a lot of shows, show up in a lot of places, and do a lot of things.

But apparently the members of PJ tend to like to stick around at home, the Gorge is close enough to home, and if they quit going across the country to play shows....
I get it, they can cram more shows in a shorter time frame on the east than they can here on the west. Though, they could do a special show there, no real need for a tour.
