I was thinking the other day, dangerous I know, why are men the only people required to register for the draft? With the amount of women in the military now I would think that if there was ever a time we would need to use the draft why not women as well?

I think it is only fair, and yet another victory for women's rights.

keeping our "frontline policy" in tact though..

I hope there would never be another draft..

People have said a draft, would lessen the length of war, or keep a war from happening because everyone kids would participate. Not just the 1% or the population that volunteers now.

I think a draft would set a civil unrest in motion that would forever change this country

The draft ended when I was a senior in high school, so I had a real sense that guys I knew could possibly be drafted and sent to Vietnam. Believe it or not, I've never been opposed to a draft if it were done equitably. That would mean (a) no deferments that favor people with higher incomes, such as the exemptions for college students; (b) women should be drafted as well as men; (c) there should be a community service option.

I'm convinced that had there been a draft in place, we would not have gone to war with Iraq.

Draft Equality: Send the children of politicians and CEO to the front lines.

    Send Donald Trump's kids

That's what I meant about no exemptions for people just because they can buy their way out of serving.

Romney is a draft dodger, and NONE of his 5 sons are in the military.

Yup. Student deferments and "favors." Though, it is not uncommon for a Rhodes Scholar to get a deferment to fulfill the obligations of study.

The difference between Clinton and Romney is that Clinton opposed the Vietnam War. Romney supported it:

So, Romney is saying, leave us spoiled brats alone to play with our silver spoons--send the poor and the minorities to fight. Clinton said it was an unjust war and loopholed his way out of it.

And then there's the 2004 election...........another piece of shit spoiled brat george-bush.jpg attacking another candidate who ACTUALLY FOUGHT in Vietnam. But, in 2004, if you didn't vote for Bush, you weren't a patriot.
