G'day

Just completed the fourth and final compilation for the 2006 tour. Usual deal -listened to all the shows, individually ranked each song, before going back again and checking out the best versions of each before final selection.

All edited nicely, with seamless transitions between the songs so it listens just like a normal concert. Approximately 120 different songs over the four comps.

All tracks from the officially released FLAC files. These are still available to purchase, so I'm not in a position to trade it through the group. However, thought it might be vaguely interesting for some of you.

Lastly, if you do find it more than vaguely interesting, please feel free to PM me...

  • dissident - Melbourne III [November 16th - #64]

in no way shape or form am i claiming it was the best show of the tour or anything of that nature but it's the best dissident i've heard by a long shot. game over. i'd swap it for brain of j which could have been better.
  • Fair comment.

I agree, it was an excellent version. In fact, I really enjoyed all the Dissidents on this leg. That said, it wasn't light years better than the version I picked on the Euro comp, and it just ended up being one I left off for variety's sake.

Again, agreed on Brain of J. Not the tightest version... but I'll admit to having a soft spot for this song ;-)

ooh good job! this would make a great listen. some versions i prefer though are (some due to crowd participation) :

state of love and gus ;) - melbourne 1
    save you - melbourne 2
    severed hand - sydney 3
rvm - sydney 3 (sydney 1's is too short)
    porch - melbourne 2 (maybe)

    some omissions :

long road and inside job - melbourne 3
black, no woman, no cry and don't gimme no lip - adelaide 1
crown of thorns and masters of war - newcastle

but it looks like you were making a (long) show's worth, so the line has to be drawn. plus, it's your compilation! :)
    1995: Melbourne 1
    1998: Melbourne 1, 2, 3
    2003: Sydney 1, 2, 3, Melbourne 1, 2, 3
    2006: Sydney 1, 2, Melbourne 1, 2, 3, Sydney 3, Newcastle, Adelaide 1, 2, Perth
    2009: LA 1, 2, Melbourne, Sydney
    2014: Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney

I had a great SOLAT on my Euro comp, but as you say, with this type of thing not every song is always going to feature.

As far as RVM/Porch goes, I always tend to lean towards the short and sweet versions. Personal preference, of course, but I find the 10 minute versions tend to drag a little.

Wasn't overly fond of Long Road (didn't rate the one from Marseille either). I think Detroit's is still my favourite from this tour. Had an excellent Inside Job from Dublin last time.

Black, again, not keen on the super long versions. Had Crown Of Thorns from leg 1, and Masters of War was definitely superior in Washington.

You have picked out some cracking versions though :-)

    Haha, thanks. :)

Yeah I prefer the slower Long Road. And Inside Job from Dublin is amazing, esp. thanks to that crowd. I tried to get claps started during the songs intro, but either people didn't know the song, couldn't be bothered, or both. I'd also hoped for it as an opener!
