Holy shit, there are so many good band playing Sao Paulo! I really wish I could go to that!! ... Well... anything can happen i guess... some kind of lottery win... But I actually think the ticket price is totally reasonable for those bands. It's an insane lineup, and it looks like every day will be an amazing day!

Hi, can someone tell me if the Buenos Aires show is a festival?

The other two are obvious, but not Argentina.

Constatina Sur is an Ecological Park...anybody been there for a show?

I've been there for a show, lousy place back then, now I don't know, very awkward to go and to comeback, espacially if you are not located in downtown buenos aires, and it's probably in a festival named Quilmes Rock, same festival Foo Fighters played early this year, FF playe at River Plate stadiums, but neighbours complained in town hall about the noise during concerts, and the mess left behind by those who go to concerts so there aren't many concerts held within the city... that's the reason why last concert was in La Plata 30 miles from downtown, and next one will be at Costanera Sur... I hope that Greenpeace and World Wild Life Fundation file a claim against the authorities about concerts held near the reservoir...

The place it's very fancy, glass towers nearby, the docks, the hilton puerto madero a few blocks away, very safe and the venue is outdoors, very close to the ecological reserve, for us it'll be a different aproach.

I went to a Luis Alberto Spinetta show there, I didn't like the venue, fortunately it was for free. Is that the place where Rage Againt The Machine played? I remeber the Buenos Aires Vivo and Argentina en Vivo shows in the late 90's and in 2000 and they were held in other place, far bigger and broader than this amphitheatre...

thanks for answering my earlier questions, Fedeco, and for providing info about the public holidays---and also to everyone commenting about their personal experiences. So, if we're in the neighborhoods of Puerto Madero or downtown Buenos Aires, we will be in safe, accessible areas? Also, I thought Argentina had Jueves Santo and viernes Santo, so would April 4 and 5 be public holiday too? For travelers, are public holidays difficult for public and cab transportation, restaurants, etc. as is the case in some countries I've been to with religious and public holidays? I'm sorry for all the questions--I've been reading up on everything in spanish and english but sometimes you just have to ask someone personally :-). :D

Accesible yes, safe, we hope so, we must arrange a gathering for all those non-spanish speakers, like if we were tourist guides... Argentina has Holy Thursday and Friday, Friday it is a holiday of course, but Holy Thursday isn't a holiday, not to all al least, for instance, city council and its government offices are closed, public transport works like it was a holiday but plenty of taxis to go round, shops are open so you will be able to eat out or buy groceries, buy whatever you want in a store, or go to the mall, but on Friday only malls, theatres and malls will be open, some drugstores as well, but the rest will be closed, and public transport will work as a holiday of course, but still you will be able to get a cab, by the way, cabs are very expensive now, probably not for everyone, but you will see fare is quite high, and there is evening fare which is higher... if anyone needs more specifics, don't hesitate to ask...

Definitely going to Chile, waiting to see what's happening with BA
Javis, I like the idea of having some tour guides for the non-spanish speaking amongst us.
    Maybe a PJ pre-party? :)

Any advice on where to stay close to venues and transport for Chile and Argentina would be appreciated.

    Hi!
I can recommend some places to stay in Santiago but it depends what kind of accommodation do you prefer, I mean hostels, hotels, apartments.
Any way, neighborhoods in wich you could find good places are Lastarrias, Bellas Artes, Providencia or Parque Bustamante. All of those has good acces to metro stations.
The festival take place in an area of the Parque O`Higgins, wich has its own metro station. You will not have any difficulty to getting there.
Is nice to know that there are fans of PJ coming to Chile, Argentina y Brasil. You'll enjoy our energy!

Easter weekend is the prior one, while Pearl Jam will be at Lolla Brasil.

Can't wait here in Buenos Aires for another PJ show. I got Brasil tickets already and I will define Chile in the next days.

The place in itself it's an open place, not an amphiteatre. Not lawn but concrete, cement in a big open place.
For those coming for another countries, it's very near downtown, historic centre and touristic attractions like Puerto Madero and San Telmo neighborhood.

I'm gonna go walking from home...30 blocks....Too nice to be real :D

We wait for alll of you. You won't regret. Seeing PJ in Buenos Aires is kinda a religious experience :)

Do you mean, travel by car to connect Sao Paulo with Buenos Aires? You have to drive 1200 miles, in 2 days, 10 hours/day on the road to get there, with only 300 miles on highways, it's not Germany with superhighways and 250 km/h speed limits, the roads are most of them two ways only and many drivers are reckless downhere, so I'd recommend that you take a plane.
Some of the things you have to take into account, first you have to ask the rental company for a permit to cross the border with the car in advance and pay an extra, ask for a Mercosur insurance coverage also, and you have to bring the car back to Brazil, or pay the recovery fee from BA to SP, and...Take a plane or a bus, even for us it does not make sense!

Now, 20 years later I'll have the chance to see them play the same festival in my 'hometown'...this is über-special...very symbolic... :D

When in Buenos Aires, axis are up for grabs, and there is also van services such as Manuel Tienda Leon, those are vans which carry passengers from bus stations, train stations and airports to hotel and the other way round... you can ask the clerk at the hotel front desk to arrange that for you... regarding Santiago and Sao Paulo I have no idea...

Whoever comes to Argentina should take a look at this site: http://www.054online.com/?IDi=EN. It's the site of a magazine called 054 (after the Argentine iternational dialing code). The readership of the magazine is mostly tourists, it's aimed for them. The link is already in English language. On the left margin there is a widget to look for accomodation in every city and there is a link for appartment rental. Plus, you can take a peep at the magazine on line: there are many ads for hotels, hostels, couch surfers and the like, along with where to eat, where to drink, what to do and so on... you can pick it up in many bars, pubs and restaurants, some hostels and hotels provide it as well and it's for free... enjoy the reading!!!!
