i would go second hand and buy the best for your £££££
technic i have always loved and have had...but other makes are great..
look of ebay for a local seller...you can get a very good table for less then 200...
just buy a new needle first.

check out needledoctor.com (and maybe buy elsewhere because they are expensive sometimes)
but, my current favorite is the Audio Technica LP120 USB turntable.
It's pretty much a copy of an old Technics SL1200 which is one of my all time faves. But you can get the AT for around 200 American.
You can swap out the tone arm for something lighter if you want, and get a bellari preamp and get a great cartridge if that's your thing later.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I purchased a pro-ject debut III turntable about 8 months ago and I am very happy with it. I think I spent a little under $400 US dollars.
