Wow, what a show tonight, folks. After yesterdays somewhat disappointing near-repeat of the San Diego set, the band came out with guns blazing.

First off, I'd like to say thanks to the few folks I met this evening, namely a few in Section 11: Mike and Ian in row K, who I chatted with quite a bit before the show and who knew how to rock out, as well as 15-year old Cody and his father, whose name I didn't get, in Row J. At one point during the encore, Cody's dad embraced his son, who did not know he was seeing Pearl Jam until they got to the arena. It was an awesome father-son moment to witness and made me hope I will be doing the same when I have kids. Cody said after that he loved the show and thought it was much better than the System of a Down show he saw a little while ago! It was great to watch Cody get into the show; by the end he was clapping, cheering, and throwing his fists in the air with the rest of us. I had a great time being next to them and I do believe Pearl Jam earned themselves another die hard fan.

Back to the show... First was Eddie's surprising preset of Walking the Cow. I never thought I'd hear that one, for sure. I knew then that this night was going to be a bit different from last night, which was a promising start. Also, when he got on stage he said in his low gravelly tone "Hello.... is there anybody out there." I'm always down for nods to my favorite band, Pink Floyd (PJ is getting to be a much closer second, though)

The band curiously opened with World Wide Suicide, but it got the arena rocking right out of the gate. Looking around you could tell this crowd was going to be a wild one- the floor was jumping, and even the seats in the back had movement.

After a 10 show drought for Brain of J between my first PJ show in Minneapolis 98 and San Diego on Friday, I only had to wait 2 shows to hear it again. One of my favorites on Yield, I was singing and jumping like a madman. I love this song.

Animal got quite the crowd reaction. Thousands of counting hands in the air- what a sight.

If they're going to play several songs from the new record, Marker needs to be played every night like WWS- it's a great live song, and the end offers the crowd an opportunity for participation. I love hearing it.

Speaking of Severed, I could hear it three times in a show and it wouldn't get old. "I said yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" is just one of those lines you love to sing to, and the solo at the end has always been fantastic. When Mike hit that long high note halfway through the solo tonight I got chills.

Tonight's Even Flow was amazing. Matt's drum solo was the most enjoyable of the one's I've heard. It's a welcome addition to what had definitely become a "piss break" song for me.

After Even Flow and that great drum solo, Ed introduced the next song, saying he's never said this before, but MFC stands for "Matt Fucking Cameron". Another favorite of mine on Yield, hearing this one meant that I've seen over half of the songs from that record in the last year. Here's hoping Now Way and All Those Yesterdays make returns o the sets sometime soon.

I Got Shit was definitely a fanclub favorite tonight. Most everyone on the floor and in the side stage sections seemed to be into this one.

Corduroy seems to have become a set staple once again after being regulated to every-other-show or so status for the last couple years. Another crowd favorite- the singing was LOUD.

Then came Daughter, which is one of the highlights, believe it or not, of the evening. You'll hear on the boot that Ed doesn't get to the "the shades go down" bit for some time- this was because the techs were replacing his mic. He did a nice vocal segue into the 'hey hey its OK' bit, and the crowd response to that was amazing. There was a lot of great call-and-response here. Then came the chorus of I Believe In Miracles, which again he crowd was more than ready to sing along to. There was a lot of talk about the Ramones over the course of the show, and Ed finished the long tag with another call-and-response to 'hey ho, let's go'. All in all I'd bet that this version approaches 8-9 minutes. The crowd particiapation was phenomenal and something I am not going to forget when I think about this show. I know this song gets a lot flak these days, but give this one a listen.

Ed introduced Sad as a "Lost Dog". I love this song, and it was great to hear it again. Much of the crowd didn't seem too familiar with it, but those who did seem to know it were singing with aplomb. I love it!

Garden was funny- it wasn't until after the power opening that many in the crowd knew what was being played. But once they figured it out, they were in to it. I love hearing Ed sing this one, and he was spot on here.

Down came from out of left field for me, and it was amazing how many people were singing along. Last year in Thunder Bay it seemed very few knew of it, but here it got the reaction that this little gem deserves.

Ed prefaced Go by singing a capella a few bars of the blues classic "Baby, Please Don't Go". Now, how many out there thought he was covering Aerosmith?!

Go was all kinds of intense. When I saw the band in Chicago, Go was the only song I felt the lasers were a worthy addition to, so it was slightly disappointing that they weren't present here, but completely understandable. the light show was still fantastic.

Yesterday's Betterman seemed to have better crowd singing (though Ed really didn't let us sing as much as yesterday, either), but that's not the story here. Ed returned to "Baby Please Don't Go", slightly modifying the lyrics to fit the backing tune. The only part of Save It For Later that was sung was the "Don't run away, run away, run away... DON'T LET ME DOOOOOOWWWN" bit, but it was still amazing. When they do extend the song in concert, they've really turned the end of it into an incredible bit of inspired jamming, and tonight's version was awesome.

The techs then brought out another microphone and placed it next to Ed, who then said they were going to play a song they've never played (a pause) ...in the Forum before. What a tease! He mentioned that when they last played the Forum they had X opening for them, but sadly they didn't ever play his favorite song of theirs. So tonight they were going to try it, and to help them was once again, Tim Robbins. I've only heard the song a couple times so I wasn't overly familiar with it, but I really liked it here. After the vocals were done, Tim grabbed Ed's guitar and did a little rhythm guitar work until the end of the song. I do think they must have messed something up, because afterward Ed said to Tim as he was leaving the stage that "they'll get it next time". It's always nice to hear something differnet from PJ in terms of their covers, so I was glad to have been a part of the crowd for this one.

Next was Porch, which featured a lenghty and tasty mid-section jam. This particular jam wasn't as intense as the one I heard in Chicago, but that was due in part to the fact that Ed took his guitar, put it over his head, and did the spotlight/mirror trick with it, illumintaing small sections of the crowd with a giant beam of light. He went around the arena a good couple times. Earlier in the night my seat neighbor Mike (who I mentioned earlier) had said that he had heard Ed had shined crowds before with a mirror and that he really wanted to see that, so I turned around and smiled at him- he seemed to be quite happy that he got that moment at this show. I was happy for him. On the boot you'll likely hear a LOT of clapping, too, as in the quieter part of the jam, the crowd picked up on the beat and were very into the song.

During the break, there wasn't but two seconds from the bands exit from the stage before I heard the upper areas of the arena stomping. I don't think that happened last night. This crowd was rabid for more.

The sit down stools came out during the break, and when the band returned, Ed again mentioned Johnny Ramone, and said Man Of the Hour was for him. This song is so lovely, and I love hearing it at shows. It will be playing at my funeral.

Off He Goes! Ed mentioned prior to starting the song that his brothers were in attendance and that sometimes, as a result of being in the band, he (and the band) can be very difficult to have relationships with. In a touching moment he said that, though he and his brothers are close, he'd like to be closer, and he dedicated the song to them. I'm not a huge fan of No Code, but it is severly underrepresented on the list of songs I've seen live, so I was very happy to hear this one. It was a very good rendition.

Next was Footsteps, which I figured was the start of the reverse Mamasan. I'm lucky now to have seen it twice this year, and I do think it's great that they are acknowledging their history like this a little bit more. As far as I am concerned, things like this or Crown Of Thorns should be welcome in any setlist- everyone should get a decent chance to hear them. Ed let us sing a bit of Footsteps at the very end.

Once got the crowd going again after the mini sit-down set. It sure seemed that many in the Forum tonight knew Ten like the back of their hands.

Alive was once again great. I told Cody right before it started to "get ready", because I knew he was going to get into this one. When the time for the fist pump came, Cody joined in and didn't stop until it was over. What a moment to share with him. There were no crazy antics like ladder-climbing or speaker hopping that were present at the previous couple shows, but nonetheless it was an amazing spectacle. I love the mirrorball they lower during the song and shine around the arena- it's an incredible sight.

Again the encore break was a loud and rambunctious affair. I do believe that this crowd truly earned the encores tonight.

Ed prefaced Big Wave by mentioning the current issues surrounding Trestle and noting that the donations for these shows went to Surfrider. Big Wave is one of my favorites on the new record, so even though I've heard it three shows in a row, it's one of the highlights of each of those shows. A shame it seems to be hated by so many... maybe hearing it live will change your minds.

Comatose deserves its placement in the encore- it's a nasty, nasty rocker. I like the lighting they use on this one- pretty much backlighting the band with intense white light. It's quite the visual and fits the song perfectly.

State of Love and Trust was a surprise here, and the crowd ate it up. This song will never get old live. In fact, I never really appreciated it until I did hear it live for the first time.

My second Leash since its return to the set, and this group of fans seemed to enjoy it more than in San Diego. I'm not a big fan of the song (in fact, I won't lie- I wish the band would have never played it again, just to spite us- we're already so very spoiled!), but I will say I was singing along with everyone else.

RITFW closed this amazing show, which I do think was somewhat rushed at the end. It felt to me like the band wanted to do more, but I'm guessing that there might have been curfew issues or some other factor that cut things down a bit. Mike looked as if he might get in YL, but then somewhat reluctantly gave up his guitar to the tech, who he actually gave a hug to seemingly show his appreciation for him. Mike is such a great guy.

I took the 405 north to my friends house after the show, and there was a terrible accident that backed traffic up for a long while. I really do hope it wasn't anyone at the show and I hope that, whoever it was involved, that they are going to be OK...

This show marked the end of my Pearl Jam run... for now. I've seen seven shows this tour and each one offered unique memories. Every show was fun. The band was always on. This new record is phenomenal live (though, sadly, I didn't get to hear Parachutes at all) and I've had more fun at these shows than I could have ever predicted. It's been a fun ride. I already can't wait for the next time, whenever that may be. Until then..

Posted this on the official fanview but thought I'd add it here too. Wasn't the ok ok tag on Daughter actually Sonic Youth's Androgynous Mind and not the It's OK by Dead Moon? Anyone else agree? The Synergy site and this setlist write up seems to say Dead Moon's but I'm pretty sure that it was A.M.
